Happy Thanksgiving – All Weekend Sports Feast Open Thread

Screen Shot 2013-11-27 at 10.25.51 PMHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours from all of us here at Statefans Nation!  Hope you are enjoying the holiday weekend, that you get to spend time with loved ones and friends and of course get to watch some of the great sports action.  Chat about it here!

If you are driving long distance this weekend, here’s a recommendation for a smartphone application you might want to employ: Waze.  It’s a combination GPS mapping application, but comes with the added bonus of a social media component that can alert you about heavy traffic, wrecks ahead, and yes…patrolmen too.  The alerts about traffics and accidents are worth their weight in gold.

Here’s today’s sports major sports action:

Friday 11/29

Via The News and Observer. Games of special interest are highlighted in red.  The NFL is on hiatus for a couple of days, but we’ve got the chance to take a good look at some future hoops opponents, a good SEC tilt in football and two of our three regional pro teams are in action.  That, and the Pack’s Women’s Hoops team looks to continue their high-flying start this afternoon against Wright State in the Gulf Coast Showcase.  In toto, there’s plenty to keep us busy while our better halves go about their Black Friday shopping while we eat turkey sandwiches and sit in front of the television.

I guess when the punter knocks HIMSELF silly going helmet to helmet, flagging him for targeting would be unseemly.

  2. Wulfpack 11/30/2013 at 7:14 PM #

And this, folks, for the 100th time is why the SEC is king. Unreal. What drama.

  3. Wulfpack 11/30/2013 at 7:20 PM #

Georgia completed the incredible comeback and tops GT in two OTs. ACC can’t even beat the backup.

  4. Wufpacker 11/30/2013 at 7:25 PM #

    Holy effing sh-t.

  5. Wulfpack 11/30/2013 at 7:26 PM #

And I repeat. College football history.

  6. Wulfpack 11/30/2013 at 7:28 PM #

And the bells are ringing in Columbus.

    NOLES are NUMBER ONE !!

War F’ing Eagles ROLL DA’ Tide out of town….

    7-11-HA!!!!!

  8. 1.21 Jigawatts 11/30/2013 at 7:29 PM #

That was the craziest ending. Auburn has a horseshoe up their butt this year.

  9. FunPack 11/30/2013 at 7:30 PM #

That might be the most insane ending to a college game I’ve ever seen. War Damn Eagle.

  10. Wulfpack 11/30/2013 at 7:34 PM #

    This is why we watch.

  11. MrPlywood 11/30/2013 at 7:37 PM #

Holy crap, what an ending to Auburn/Alabama. I thought Saban was nuts to try ANOTHER FG. Why not go with the Hail Mary, then you’ve at least got some fast guys on the field? Crazy man, just crazy.

  12. 1.21 Jigawatts 11/30/2013 at 7:37 PM #

You take State’s shitty performance out of the equation, today has been one of the best days of football in a long time.

  13. TheAliasTroll 11/30/2013 at 7:38 PM #

    fantastic

  14. Texpack 11/30/2013 at 7:38 PM #

Nick Saban is so much smarter than everybody else. He knew after watching Marshall and the Auburn tack today that Miller and Hyde would DESTROY Alabama so he saved himself the embarrassment.

    GO BUCKS!!!!

  15. BJD95 11/30/2013 at 7:39 PM #

Ladies and gentlemen, that was the best college football game I have ever seen. Wow.

  16. Wulfpack 11/30/2013 at 7:40 PM #

That game literally came down to the very last milli-second.

Surprised Bama wasn’t ready for the return as well coached as they are.

Aubie will get serious consideration for number two. Will be interesting what the polls show.

  17. redcanine 11/30/2013 at 7:40 PM #

    That was awesome.

  18. Wulfpack 11/30/2013 at 7:41 PM #

If Urban Meyer and the Bucks don’t get in now, which is surely a possibility if Aubie beats Cocky/Mizzou, he really will have a heart attack.

  19. bill.onthebeach 11/30/2013 at 7:43 PM #

    Well… now…ladies…

let’s just sit back and watch the BCS crowd try to make chicken salad out the furrball between 2 && 5…

Clowns at the circus won’t be as hilarious….

Unless they telephone U.Meyer and ask him want to do.

  20. MrPlywood 11/30/2013 at 7:45 PM #

Though admittedly the stakes were far different, while watching that return I had a flashback to last year’s unx game…

  21. BJD95 11/30/2013 at 7:46 PM #

Go Sparty so the idiot voters don’t get to decide!!

Either way, with the Noles avoiding Bama, I think they are favored to win it all now.

  22. Wulfpack 11/30/2013 at 7:47 PM #

Yes, Noles are cutting down the nets. I know, makes no sense. But I am still in shock from that ending.

  23. BJD95 11/30/2013 at 7:50 PM #

I will be at the beach with my fantasy football crew next Saturday, so I will either get drunk in celebration of tOSU’s demise, or in rage against the voters for screwing Aubie.

Assuming they beat the Chickens or Mizzou, that is. I could see a letdown game, and both those teams are better than Sparty (who I am counting on to beat the Buckeyes).

  24. bill.onthebeach 11/30/2013 at 7:51 PM #

Before you give ’em the crystal ball, everyone just remember the NOLES have to first defeat the toughest team they’ve seen in a month…. the DUKE Blue Devils …

  25. Texpack 11/30/2013 at 7:52 PM #

OSU is much better than Bama. Noles should win but at least the best two teams will play now. Unless the one loss SEC rule is invoked.
