Happy Thanksgiving – All Weekend Sports Feast Open Thread

Screen Shot 2013-11-27 at 10.25.51 PMHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours from all of us here at Statefans Nation!  Hope you are enjoying the holiday weekend, that you get to spend time with loved ones and friends and of course get to watch some of the great sports action.  Chat about it here!

If you are driving long distance this weekend, here’s a recommendation for a smartphone application you might want to employ: Waze.  It’s a combination GPS mapping application, but comes with the added bonus of a social media component that can alert you about heavy traffic, wrecks ahead, and yes…patrolmen too.  The alerts about traffics and accidents are worth their weight in gold.

Here’s today’s sports major sports action:

Friday 11/29

Via The News and Observer. Games of special interest are highlighted in red.  The NFL is on hiatus for a couple of days, but we’ve got the chance to take a good look at some future hoops opponents, a good SEC tilt in football and two of our three regional pro teams are in action.  That, and the Pack’s Women’s Hoops team looks to continue their high-flying start this afternoon against Wright State in the Gulf Coast Showcase.  In toto, there’s plenty to keep us busy while our better halves go about their Black Friday shopping while we eat turkey sandwiches and sit in front of the television.

Cowboys start their thanksgiving by running the opening kickoff 9 yards deep out of their endzone and proceed to fumble said kickoff allowing the Raiders a scoop and score…

    silly cowboys

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

One of my favorite holidays. I think a bit underrated if that is possible. Not a big turkey fan though. Love all the sides. Like Tiger Woods or the field in a major, what do like the turkey or the field. Desserts are a whole different game!:)

  3. Wufpacker 11/28/2013 at 5:47 PM #

The sentiment of Thanksgiving is the thing for me. The eating is secondary.

That being said, I’m cooking my ever-loving ASS off today.

    🙂

I like that football is on all the live-long day. That’s a big improvement over Christmas, when after the viewing of “Christmas Vacation” ends, it’s mostly cleanup and reading only.

I love the shit out of some turkey breast, with rice and gravy. Cranberry sauce and sweet potatoes. Yum.

They are actually playing the song I linked on the Apple 5c commercials, though they change the British “rill rill” to Yankified “ring ring” which pisses me off.

My fantasy opponent also has Jennings. I will not be tracking scores on Sunday LMAO.

  5. Wufpacker 11/28/2013 at 6:36 PM #

    LOL…BJD said “breast”.

  6. the_phisherman 11/28/2013 at 7:15 PM #

Of course my fantasy team would be facing off against the team that is playing both Murray and Jennings

  7. BJD95 11/28/2013 at 7:28 PM #

Johnny Reb! Cowbells! No fantasy agony!!

    “Love all the sides”

^Cranberry relish is my favorite. Yep.

If I could put an image of ‘confession bear’ in here, it would be that I put cran relish on everything, including the meats … For reals, you should try it.

    Bill.ontheBeach…

As BJ (not our BEAST on the BB court) sang….

    But you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right
You may be wrong but you may be right

From your account, this sounds more like a hip-hop song for a lad that is already acting line like he is in the Pro’s….

Or maybe it has one of them good ole’ “Country Music” themes that involves cheatin’ and GF’s and copious amounts of amber colored liquid….

You have more “intimate” details that I have read…so I guess it will just have to play out.

All I can say, with certainty is that if the Ozzie Nelson personality coach in Durham outplays the light blue clad rascals in CH on Saturday, then Jimbo BETTER hope that ALL his lads, as well as his QB, understand that just showing up in Charlotte does NOT guarantee a W….

Happy T-Day to you and yours….

Bad punt snap on 4th and 17, and Texas Tech punter runs it all the way for a TD. That was pretty cool, especially since it happened against Mack Brown.

Guess who’s getting buzzed on Pear Cider? Thhhiiisss Guy!

    Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Here’s a winter driving tip. Driving in ice and snow is like cunnilingus: going too fast and not paying attention you could slide into the asshole in front of you.

  13. Wufpacker 11/28/2013 at 10:10 PM #

    ^ Hahahahha.

    I’m not saying anything.

  14. wufpup76 11/28/2013 at 10:16 PM #

    I will, Wuf.

I like sliding into the asshole …

    Yeah, sorry everyone.

Tim Floyd is apparently the gift that keeps on giving the whole year round in college basketball:

I like sliding into the asshole as well, but while I grin for a split second, I get steamrolled by a slap to the face. Did we just turn this into a porn site?

Gosh I love after dinner whiskey drinks!!

  17. choppack1 11/28/2013 at 11:19 PM #

Here’ the stat of the year for you….you read this and you realize we are lucky the season hasn’t been worse:

State’s offense is 124 out of 125 d1a schools in red zone TD %.

State’s defense is 123 out of 125 in red zone TD %….

Think about that for futility….and then realize that we were in all but one game in second half.

Friday’s sports schedule is above, thank to the N&O.

Annnnnnnd….tell me you haven’t walked out of Carter-Finley Stadium a few times this season feeling the way this guy did about the Browns last Sunday.

“I’ll be back here next week, but quite frankly I’m not sure I can drink enough to make that game even watchable. But unlike you, Cleveland Browns, at least I’M GOING TO TRY!”

    I hear ya, brother.

Thanks, chop. Doing your best to sober everyone up!

In all seriousness, those stats should let you know how dire the situation is, talentwise. A little tweaking of the gameplan, or different playcalling…deck chairs on the Titanic. Remember, we also put up said stats against a pretty soft schedule, overall. Not as soft as we initially thought, but not exactly murderers’ row.

Last but not least, don’t forget the sage wisdom of Clerks 2. You can never go ass to mouth. Learn it, live it, love it.

Enjoy your food and/or libation hangovers, kids!

This is a great sports weekend if you are NOT an NC State fan. As a diehard State fan, I am looking forward to the UNC/Duke game – that is sad, but that is where our program is right now.

  21. mak4dpak 11/29/2013 at 11:36 AM #

Have 4 seats and a parking pass for the game against Maryland tomorrow. Anyone interested? Section 320. $65 total. And I will also be at the game supporting the team. Just had these extras.

  22. Texpack 11/29/2013 at 1:19 PM #

Projected UNCCH bowl opponent on the deuce vs SMU.

Note – First tuition check to UH in about 8 months so I’m becoming more interested in the Coogs.

  23. Wufpacker 11/29/2013 at 1:21 PM #

Iowa suddenly can’t tackle for sh-t.

Must be an effect of their Steeler looking unis.

  24. Alpha Wolf 11/29/2013 at 2:19 PM #

Just in case you missed it, with 4:56 left in the 4rd quarter and trailing 17-10, Nebraska ran a fake punt from its own 25 yard line on a 4th and 3. Iowa converted on the next play to make the score 24-10.

  25. Wufpacker 11/29/2013 at 2:26 PM #

LOL, I actually did miss that (was checking out some of SMU/UH).

Regardless, sounds stupid when they did it too (though with only 3 to go, I can ALMOST get on board…almost).
