Brain Bleaching – Non-Dumpster Fire Football Open Thread

Thank God that catastrophe was the early game of the day, and very few people outside of NC saw it. Enjoy the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party as your bleach-y appetizer course.

If any of you watched his pc, coach pretty much called out the officials for the targeting calls during the game. He said the rule had good intent but was a bad rule that needs changing because it is not enforced evenly and is a judgment call. He went on to say it wasn’t enforced fairly in this game as well with our player called for it and a couple of their hits ignored by the officials. (he wasn’t blaming the loss on that…just pointing it out in response to a question) I didn’t see the plays he was talking about but I have no reason to doubt these clown officials would do that so I applaud him for calling them on it. I wonder if that gets ol’ swoffy’s panties in a twist?

We are not talented and playing with horrible QB play, but I didn’t see a whole lot of fight out of the Pack after the first quarter. Allowing UNC to run uo the gut going untouched with the game on the line is inexcusable. The whole program needs an attitude adjustment. Hope DD can deliver in time. With FSU and Clemson so strong in the division it is a very tall order. DD will have to pitch a near perfect game or else we are no better than third in the division.

    LOL Alpha.

You know spelling is a lost art. Good thing she’s cute.

-I wouldn’t be upset in the slightest if they cancelled halftime pass outs.
-Seems a little too late to be upset about them dancing on the logo. We could have prevented that by winning and what should we expect with claiming “our state”. It’s one thing to claim it… Anyway, I believe it was Bear Bryant that said, “Everyone has the will to win. It’s the will to prepare to win….”. We were not as prepared as they were, plain and simple.

Okay I have read all the banter. But here is my two cents. I was at the game as I always am and have been for the past 23 years at that. Let stalk QB. It seems to me that DD brought in the transfers to make a quick strike at winning so as to please the fan base. But he has struck out. This to me was a bad move and one that shows he cares about his reputation first. Would it not have been better to go ahead and rebuild with a freshman of sorts? Who knows.

We are bad in the secondary…playing a cover two got us killed. I did notice when we played man and dropped a linebacker we were better on D. No one else saw it I guess.

On the RB’s the commenter was right; (I) formation and get those yards, this is where Thorton was good but we had little of it.

Coaching, hmmmm. Not sure about this except to say as I have said before go ask Mike Leach to come and coach us, he will excel I believe.

Fake punt call on the field. NOT.!!! I do not know whether it was the OC or DD, but we get 4 yards on three running downs and then we run it again on fourth down with 11 yards needed, what a joke and in their territory to make it worse. And worse it got.

I love the Pack…but we will be lucky if we win any more games this year…and the man who said he ain’t coming anymore and spending any of his money here anymore echo’s the thoughts of many I have heard.

Its going to be a long few years with DD, perhaps we should cut our losses.

Poor decisions by Mitchell only surpassed by DD’s poor decisions. 4th and a lot, the lead, early in the game, on our side of the field, previous play a failed run up the gut, decide it’s the perfect time to fake a punt because no coach in their right mind would ever do that. And there you have it.

We are a bad team with inferior athletes. We certainly don’t need those kinds of decisions from the sidelines.

Thankfully, the cheaters are really, really, bad as well. I don’t see them accomplishing much with the Hat as head coach.

Stop the talk of giving DD time and this is a rebuilding year. We pump in too much money and pay these coaches to be little more prepared than what we getting. I cannot recall witnessing such poorly coached games. Who calls a fake punt that early, that deep in our territory and when you are winning. DD did take responsibility for that stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid (I’m tired) call. You fake punt within FG range of your opponent? 34 years and no ACC title and looks like it will not be anytime soon. I think we may 0-8 in the ACC. Ugh!

    Wolfpup44: I agree wholeheartedly

Half of you don’t know shit and half of that crew are Ebronite dumb.

I have been one to say he deserves the necessary time to turn this program around. It is very clear TOB left the cupboard bare. With that said I haven’t seen a whole lot from the staff in the coaching department. We are going to have to wait and see how this plays out in another year or two. I will say Yow won’t stand for many last place finishes. You get one and then it is time to show something. She won’t accept this if it persists.

    Hey guys…..

Here’s just what the Doctor ordered to cure the SFN hangover from yesterday’s game…

    4:00pm today EST
    Tampa Bay v. Seattle

Mike Glennon and Russell Wilson go head to head for the first time as NFL quarterbacks.

I wonder how many schools have had two quarterbacks who played together in college do that?

I also wonder who TOB is pulling for???

  12. tjfoose1 11/03/2013 at 1:19 PM #

I thought we already had enough stupid on this site, but I guess we’re stocking up for the winter.

  13. tjfoose1 11/03/2013 at 1:21 PM #

“I also wonder who TOB is pulling for???”

    Really Bill?

Glennon, and it’s not even close.

  14. nitewolf 11/03/2013 at 1:21 PM #

You’ll never make some folks happy on here, even if we were competitive / winning titles and it was (insert_top_10_coach) running the show.

  15. tjfoose1 11/03/2013 at 1:51 PM #

The more football savy on this site were predicting 5-7 wins, barring significant injuries.

Considering the large amount of injuries to key personnel, we’re at what was expected.

It appears many still don’t realize the realities of the 2013 active roster. No matter want you may want to believe, DD ain’t Rumpelstiltskin.

  16. nemesisj 11/03/2013 at 2:01 PM #

I’ve been reading this site since from almost the beginning, and I really enjoy it. I’ve been a State fan all my life. I’ve also got quite a bit of experience turning around failing businesses. I’ve never played football. I didn’t get to watch the first half, I watched most of the second.

I’m really shocked at the ridiculous bullshit being spouted about how DD isn’t a good coach, etc. When you’re turning around a business or a football team, strategies that carry you far with the right players and employees almost always backfire with substandard talent. You spend quite a bit of time looking really stupid while you’re cycling out players and employees in search of a unit that can get the job done.

I’m sorry, but what the hell did everyone expect? To automatically win a rivalry game? That DD would show up and somehow erase years of horrible recruiting and the tolerance of all those WTF games every year under TOB? He needs a couple of years to put in his system, change the culture, and all of a sudden we’ll be watching trick play calls on sports center when we have a well gelled team.

I’m really disgusted by all of the bitching and moaning about our new coach.

  17. mak4dpak 11/03/2013 at 2:02 PM #

Hope TOB instills some of his winning skills over the holes in the Cavs football team. next game. I hate those assholes. And would some deserving Pirate fan go plant a Pirate flag on the UNC logo at Kenan. Who’s State?

  18. BJD95 11/03/2013 at 2:35 PM #

You want to see some personnel disparity…get a load of the Glennon/Wilson faceoff.

  19. BJD95 11/03/2013 at 2:42 PM #

Wow, Buffalo. You go to timeout and stay there.

DD will get more time and we are all frustrated with the product coming out at game day each week. It will get better and we will improve. How much is an unknown that will not be answered anytime soon. Personally I think the coaching to this point of the season has flat out sucked Donkey Balls. That does NOT mean we should throw anybody under the bus nor does it mean I am going say we made a bad hire. The proof will be can he coach as good as he recruits? So far it’s not positive at all but that doesn’t mean it won’t be for another year or two.

Just calling it the way it has gone down thus far. Thus far the coaching sucks Donkey Balls…..

DD will improve with better talent but let’s hope it is enough.

One last question that I can’t help but wonder. What if we go 0-8 in the ACC? You have to wonder….

  23. TheAliasTroll 11/03/2013 at 4:35 PM #

Chargers still by far the best team in the league again this year at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

  24. Avid109 11/03/2013 at 4:36 PM #

If the fake punt really was called on the field, then I feel much better about Coach Doeren — especially since he took the blame for it.

I’d expected more variety in our offensive play calling as the season progressed, but it seems like the play calling has been simplified (or dumbed down) instead. Maybe the coaches don’t think that these players are capable of executing more complicated plays. Maybe they ought to put both Mitchell and Thomas in the backfield in a single-wing formation. At least a move like that would make the opposing defense think.

    Out on the West Coast…

    Glennon’s Bucs — 21
    Russell’s Seahawks – ZIP

1.5min to go in the first half….

    Really.
