NC State +32 at Florida State

Our beloved Wolfpack travel to Tallahassee to take on Famous Jameis Winston and the second-ranked Florida State Seminoles today at 3:30pm. If you can stomach watching, the game will be televised (split) on either your local ABC channel or ESPN2.

Obviously, State’s thin and inexperienced secondary will have to find a way to neutralize FSU’s all-everything freshman quarterback. I don’t really understand how that is supposed to happen when I think about how poorly the secondary has played all season, especially in key third down situations. But,maybe Jack Tocho is really an interception machine like he showed against Syracuse before his injury. How good has Winston been this year?

Winston is averaging 12 yards per attempt and 314.2 yards per game, has a 20-3 ratio of touchdowns to interceptions, and a passer rating that ranks second nationally. He strolled into Death Valley under some incredible pressure and played like it was nothin’. Sometimes recruiting rankings are off, and then other times they are really, really right.

CFN has this preview and it picks Florida State 47-13.

The most important item I am watching today is the injury report. NC State desperately needs some good news regarding health as we head into a November schedule that presents a string of games that are all winnable if we can roll out the first stringers — UNC, Boston College, Duke, East Carolina and Maryland provide Coach Doeren five opportunities to win at least three games to become bowl eligible in his first season.

The injury news did get better this week. In addition to Mitchell’s return, the depth chart for today indicated that almost everyone who could return has returned with the lone exception being Robert Crip (still out). Even though FSU’s defense is ferocious, it will be good to see Rashard Smith and Marquez Valdes-Scantling back on offense; so, I’m looking to today to provide Brandon Mitchell something akin to a ‘scrimmage’ to allow him shake off the rust and get some experience under center to be prepared for November.

NC State football’s stock is hitting a 52-week low.

It’s a bit funny to see some of the early posts about what we need to do to win. I don’t think some people know just how bad we are. And unprepared. This could be worse than some of those games in the 90’s. I have never seen anything like this from a Wolfpack football team.

I’m preparing my “stop bullying us” letter. Anyone know the number to FSU’s sideline FAX machine?

Like I said…wrestling a black bear. The bear wins 1000 times out of 1000.

I thought I had prepared myself for precisely how bad this was gonna be.

    Sadly, I was wrong.

I can’t help but wonder how much cash the ‘Dog layed out on the straight up win.

Please, I hope clearer heads prevailed…and that she hid the bank card from him.

We are witnessing history. This could be the worst loss ever for NC State. Just curious, are there any statisticians out there who would know what the current worst loss is?

At FSU, the start of the new Fall quarter always brings out the most interesting questions for computer consultants on campus. The predominant questions this last term pertain to “getting into” E-mail and how to access the “Information Highway.”

An obviously distraught coed came into the consulting office yesterday complaining that his E-mail wasn’t working. Her attempts to get tickets for an on-campus concert kept resulting in returned mail.

She showed the administrator the mail address she was attempting to reach. She asked her where she obtained such an unusual mail address.

She replied, “The sign advertising the concert said, ‘begins@7:30PM’.”

    POP!

Look at the bright side. We might be helping/have helped bring a Heisman to the ACC today.

How can anyone be pissed off? I mean, didn’t you watch the Richmond game?

Their personnel was equal…only after their #1 WR and starting LT got hurt.

Yeah we can say this and that about FSU kicking the fu*k out of us. I’m cool with that, but when you show up and you play like you don’t give a fu*k, I have serious issues with that. Getting beat is one thing. But giving up before you literally hit the field is a GD disgrace to those who have ever competed in a uniform, fans, school, alumni, etc, etc, etc.

If we score, we should order rings.

I woulda dropped that one too, Shadrach.

There were games like this during my years (91-95). I just happened to be blackout drunk for them. That, combined with laying down on the bleachers, helped a lot.

They say you learn more by losing than winning.

I figure we oughta be nobel laureates right about now.

An eccentric FSU philosophy professor gave a one question final exam after a semester dealing with a broad array of topics. The class was already seated and ready to go when the professor picked up his chair, plopped it on his desk and wrote on the board: “Using everything we have learned this semester, prove that this chair does not exist.”

Fingers flew, erasers erased, notebooks were filled in furious fashion. Some students wrote over 30 pages in one hour attempting to refute the existence of the chair. One coed, however, was up and finished in less than a minute.

Weeks later when the grades were posted, the rest of the group wondered how she could have gotten an A when she had barely written anything at all. Her answer consisted of two words: “What chair?”
