NC State +32 at Florida State

Our beloved Wolfpack travel to Tallahassee to take on Famous Jameis Winston and the second-ranked Florida State Seminoles today at 3:30pm. If you can stomach watching, the game will be televised (split) on either your local ABC channel or ESPN2.

Obviously, State’s thin and inexperienced secondary will have to find a way to neutralize FSU’s all-everything freshman quarterback. I don’t really understand how that is supposed to happen when I think about how poorly the secondary has played all season, especially in key third down situations. But,maybe Jack Tocho is really an interception machine like he showed against Syracuse before his injury. How good has Winston been this year?

Winston is averaging 12 yards per attempt and 314.2 yards per game, has a 20-3 ratio of touchdowns to interceptions, and a passer rating that ranks second nationally. He strolled into Death Valley under some incredible pressure and played like it was nothin’. Sometimes recruiting rankings are off, and then other times they are really, really right.

CFN has this preview and it picks Florida State 47-13.

The most important item I am watching today is the injury report. NC State desperately needs some good news regarding health as we head into a November schedule that presents a string of games that are all winnable if we can roll out the first stringers — UNC, Boston College, Duke, East Carolina and Maryland provide Coach Doeren five opportunities to win at least three games to become bowl eligible in his first season.

The injury news did get better this week. In addition to Mitchell’s return, the depth chart for today indicated that almost everyone who could return has returned with the lone exception being Robert Crip (still out). Even though FSU’s defense is ferocious, it will be good to see Rashard Smith and Marquez Valdes-Scantling back on offense; so, I’m looking to today to provide Brandon Mitchell something akin to a ‘scrimmage’ to allow him shake off the rust and get some experience under center to be prepared for November.

For entertainment purposes check out the guy from somewhere in Raleigh who made Deadspin.com because his neighbor’s fantasy team is going to whoop his ass:

It can’t be as bad as 77-17 in 1995… I hope.

Texas Tech just scored on a halfback pass…on 2nd and goal. 7-0 Raiders.

Don’t think NC State even cared to play this game. We are rebuilding, they are out for blood and running up the score to pad stats for BCS implications. The fake punt pissed me off, that would get me fired up personally. We may be blown out, but we need to just go hit them as hard as we can next half. I mean hit Winston hard every play, de-cleat WR and try running threw people instead of running around in circles. That goes for offense, defense, and special teams.

A fake punt when up 35 is pretty classless move by Fisher.
After seeing what little bit I could stand, I don’t think this team will win another game this season. The lack of talent TOB left us with is just stunning.

BBQ sauce part of the reason we got beat so bad was that moc would go for it on 4th down early…he played to win except when he saw light blue.

Duke’s QB is 4-16 with 3 picks. And they are WINNING.

    Late BREAKING NEWS….

The NCSU – FSU game Second Half will be delayed for several hours….

NCSU players reported that there is a “Strange” Powderly Substance in the End Zones.

Police and Homeland Security have been called and federal agents were called to
    investigate.

One sports commentator speculates that after a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts will determine that the white substance unknown to the NCSU players is the goal line.

He also predicts that the game will resume and that the special agents determined that the NCSU team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.

GROAN….I am in Dallas (TX, not NC) and ABC is broadcasting the game…..sort of wish they WEREN’T!

What an absolute disaster. Looking at this crap today reminds me of the first few games NC State played with FSU after the Noles entered the ACC back in the early 90’s. FSU was in its prime and rolling to their first national championship. There was not a team in the ACC that could run with them and State was near the bottom of the league.

It has been nearly 20 years and FSU’s program has continued to improve, even after transitioning Coach Bowden stepping down. Meanwhile, NC State continues trying to escape mediocrity and remains in the bottom half of the league in football.

I sincerely hope Coach D can bring about a totally new outlook on football and achieve high levels of success never before seen in Raleigh. To do that, he is going to need the kind of money that Bobby got in Tallahassee for the program. Will Wolfpackers do that?

Yup….pull the dude who had their back up QB wrapped up and let him go to complete a pass.

  25. inhoc... 10/26/2013 at 6:00 PM #

He needs more $$$? How the F does that fix anything. The money is not the limiting factor unfortunately….
