The Pack wins the second game of the doubleheader, 17-7!

Now time to unwind with South Carolina at Mizzou, UCLA at Oregon, and Stanford at Oregon State (for the junkies and insomniacs).

Go Cards!!!

I wouldn’t at all mind seeing the ‘Noles get a crack at it.

Last weekend of the SEC season could be pretty awesome, with the Iron Bowl and Mizzou/TAMU.

Joe Kelly looking nasty with that breaking stuff tonight btw.

    Suck it, Boston.

I for one would love to see the Noles in there against Bama. Jameis against his home state. I think they could hang.

well, our performance today settled several things:
    1. We will not be invited to join the SEC.
(yes, SFN posted a lot about that possibility)
    2. We will not leave the ACC voluntarily, like Maryland.
    3. We will not attract D1 football talent this decade.

Mizzou’s football history is at least as miserable as ours. They NEVER won the Big 8 or Big 12.

Expansion is about geography and money. Mizzou got invited, joined, and is contending in their second year.

Bet they win a disproportionate amount of recruiting battles against their geographic rivals (KS, Illinois) now.

Cards load the bases with no outs, don’t score. Hope that doesn’t come back to haunt them.

Ducks seem to have pulled away a bit while I was watching baseball, lol. Buckeyes punishing TBT as if they had committed a crime.

    Too soon?

  9. Wufpacker 10/26/2013 at 10:38 PM #

Go Cocks go. Way to force the OT.

  10. Wufpacker 10/26/2013 at 10:49 PM #

Wow, clutch 4th down TD strike to keep the Cocks pumping in OT.

    2nd OT pending.

  11. Wufpacker 10/26/2013 at 11:00 PM #

Wow, Cocks shoot their load all at the end, survive a trip to the other Columbia.

Horrible way to lose for Mizzou though.

Wow. Between sc-mizzou game and bosox cards game… wow.

hey wufpacker, the braves are in Georgia…just so you know. Nah, STL played a good game. I really must be a dumb ass but I thought with Mitchell under center we’d play better, I was wrong. Do we beat UNC????????

  14. MrPlywood 10/27/2013 at 12:18 AM #

Woooo – crazy end to the Cards game, but the correct call IMHO.

  15. cameronoverrated 10/27/2013 at 12:30 AM #

not a correct call because it was not intentional…..plus Middlebrooks’ legs never made contact with the runner, didn’t trip him.

  16. MrPlywood 10/27/2013 at 12:48 AM #

Intent does not matter, and contact does not matter.

“If a runner must slow down or alter his path to avoid a fielder who is not in possession of the ball or in the act of fielding, he has been obstructed.”

“After a fielder has made an attempt to field a ball and missed, he can no longer be in the act of fielding the ball. For example, an infielder dives at a ground ball and the ball passes him and he continues to lie on the ground and delays the progress of the runner, he very likely has obstructed the runner.”

  17. Wufpacker 10/27/2013 at 12:56 AM #

Doesn’t have to be intentional, doesn’t have to make contact. It was the correct call.

“hey wufpacker, the braves are in Georgia…just so you know.”

I’m afraid ya lost me there.

EDIT – Sorry MrPly…didn’t see your response before I posted.

  18. MrPlywood 10/27/2013 at 1:31 AM #

No worries Wuf – judging by the live chat on ESPN those words need to be repeated ad infinitum.

And despite that Joyce said the raised legs didn’t matter, and the rules say that intent doesn’t matter, it seemed pretty clear to me that Middlebrooks raised his legs not once, but twice, in order to try to slow Craig down.

  19. Wufpacker 10/27/2013 at 1:45 AM #

I also noticed on replays, HP ump made the call immediately, long before the play at the plate, just as he should have.

EDIT – OK, they’re saying Jim Joyce (at 3B tonight) made the call…HP ump must have been acknowledging the call in the clip I saw. It was still immediate though…HP ump pointed while Craig was still getting up.

    Stanford hangs on in Eugene.

  21. MrPlywood 10/27/2013 at 2:08 AM #

Yeah, Joyce made the call, and he called it right away. This clip shows all the angles:

I went to bed after it was tied at 4, because I worried I would have a stroke otherwise. What a wild way to win!

Poor Mizzou. That will leave a mark.

  23. choppack1 10/27/2013 at 8:38 AM #

I am pulling for bosox in that series but since intent doesn’t matter it is absolutely the correct call…and good for them on getting it right.

  24. TheCOWDOG 10/27/2013 at 9:40 AM #

I thought the WS plug that State got the other night was really cool. However, allowing Elliott Avent to slip into the BoSox dugout for the 9th, proved fatal.

I’d say Farrell has a bit of soul searching to do.

Dallas is winning the NFC East and they suck pig oysters.
