Week 2 Open (ie, non-NC State) College Football Thread

Yes, it’s early…but Wake Forest looks like a full-on dumpster fire. Ah, the bottom feeder Atlantic Division clashes. Kind of appropriate that it’s on during a predominantly high school timeslot.

Tomorrow’s slate is pretty mediocre, apart from Dawgs/Cocks. No confirmation as to whether peanut butter will be involved.

I shall spend two seconds wondering on what planet saying that a freshman walk-on QB is unlikely to be “well above average” is some kind of awful message.

There are plenty of other internet sites to visit if you only want sunshine blown up your rectum.

If Pete can make a good qb/rb handoff, then we’ll be alright on offense. I doubt Brandon or Pete would attempt very many deep passes to begin with, or throw many ints. Canada is a great play caller, and he won’t call for a route to be run if Pete can’t make that throw.

We’re a running team that has a few WRs that can get yards after the catch.

I’m more unimpressed by Florida…but I know think Miami is legit Top 20ish team. No Coastal crown for the Holes, thank God.

Our offense is designed to confuse and create matchup problems…because you can’t defend everything. And when Mitchell plays, everything is on the table – including QB runs and medium/deep passing.

We don’t have the kind of OL where we can just predictably hand off and expect to score.

Miami is in a heap of trouble

“… we ALWAYS play down to them.”

We’ve never had this staff before. I suspect the frequency of wtf loses will be cut dramatically.

  7. BJD95 09/07/2013 at 2:21 PM #

I really don’t understand wtf FL is trying to do on offense. Fortunately for them, they may just need 2 FGs with Miami’s entire offense sidelined by injury (Duke Johnson).

Jeebus Grey, jusy looking to create arguments or are you smoking something and farting fairy dust?

Your type of thinking is starting to remind me of those who WANTED Wilson gone because in their warped mind, Glennon was better. And that was during the 2010 season.

I get what you’re saying about everything being on the table, but I’m not yet ready to consider BM an excellent runner or pontificate about how his injury will effect us in that department. If Brandon were to have been hurt in game 5, we’d have to adjust something or other. But he was hurt in game 1 before we were able to incorporate his talents into our offense. Until then, as long as the evidence supports it, I will consider us a running team.

    Where’s the SEC been?

  11. Wulfpack 09/07/2013 at 2:33 PM #

Big drive here for the Canes. Florida does not look good to me. Wasn’t really impressed by Georgia either. Clemson was the more physical and faster team. Interesting trends, but it is early.

” I will consider us a running team.”

    Who said we were not?

Is there a BJD translator somewhere? Something that you plug in what he actually writes and spits out something different to which we are to respond?

  14. BJD95 09/07/2013 at 2:41 PM #

They definitely don’t look near as dominant as they have been. No question.

  15. Wulfpack 09/07/2013 at 2:41 PM #

Big holding call there on UF.

  16. Wulfpack 09/07/2013 at 2:44 PM #

ACC *should* have at least three ranked teams in Clemson, FSU and Miami. Clemson and FSU will likely be top 10 teams all year. It is too bad Louisville couldn’t join this year. Would love to see Bridgewater against good competition.

  17. Wulfpack 09/07/2013 at 2:47 PM #

Gator offense is very poor. Don’t think they will show very well this year if this keeps up.

  18. BJD95 09/07/2013 at 2:50 PM #

Yeah, it would be a banner year for the league with Louisville included.

A whole lot of teams would need to lose twice before I would put Louisville into the title game.

  19. BJD95 09/07/2013 at 2:53 PM #

    Methinks this game ends 14-9.

  20. BJD95 09/07/2013 at 2:58 PM #

Stupid all over the field. Canes super lucky he stepped out of bounds.

  21. redcanine 09/07/2013 at 2:58 PM #

“Is there a BJD translator somewhere? Something that you plug in what he actually writes and spits out something different to which we are to respond?”

One better: he said that we wouldn’t just predictably hand off and expect to score. I think that our scoring in the red zone on running plays was rather predictable (Dayes after 1st TD). Furthermore, I consider us a running team even when we’re not in the red zone.

  22. Texpack 09/07/2013 at 2:59 PM #

The Miami game shows how the SEC advances the great defenses myth …….. crap offenses.

  23. Wulfpack 09/07/2013 at 3:03 PM #

But they have shown they can shut down supposed great offenses with all the marbles on the line, and it hasn’t been close.

  24. Wulfpack 09/07/2013 at 3:04 PM #

My God Florida is awful. Terrible QB play.

  25. BJD95 09/07/2013 at 3:05 PM #

Please remember that La Tech is probably the worst defense we faced all year. And even they mostly shut down our running game when they knew it was coming.

That said, I do love Matt Dayes. Classic “one cut” back. Tough runner, too. I just don’t think we have the OL to go “ground and pound.”
