Sept. 28 Open College Football Thread

Here is where we discuss all games other than the captivating State/Central Michigan tilt (be still my beating heart).

My record last week identifying watchable games was wretched, to put it mildly. Let’s hope this week shakes out better.

For those of you that, like me, don’t expect the Chickens and UCF to be a sleeper matchup, eyes should focus on Okie State at West Virginia (noon, ESPN). The ‘eers have been awful early on, but will be playing at home with their backs squarely against the wall. Needless to say, we will all hope for the earth to open and swallow both sides in Chapel Hill. Just pray for a quick game, so it doesn’t bleed into the SEC time window that much. I hate you, Raycom and WRAL.

The bad news is that State’s game is opposite the clear Game of the Day. The good news is that you only need to flip over to that one game – LSU at Georgia (3:30, CBS). Some people will watch Oklahoma/ND, but I have no earthly idea why. The new, cool Pope says it’s OK not to give a shit about this one.

A cornucopia of SEC options late – Bama’s trap game against Ole Miss (6:30, ESPN), TAMU at Arky (7:00, ESPN2), and the train wreck that is Florida at Kentucky (7:00, ESPNU). Plus the first of several possibly interesting Pac 12 matchups, Arizona at Washington (7:00, Fox). Certainly 2 of those 4 will be watchable. I consider Wiscy at OSU to be dull and unwatchable, unless the other four flame out.

Stanford at the Fighting Mike Leaches (10:00, ESPN) might be the under the radar game of the day, for you insominiacs. And you can flip to Southern Cal at Arizona State (10:30, ESPN2) and look out for HWSNBM sightings. Plus, you know, the Sun Devil cheerleaders.

Did anyone see the vomit-inducing uniforms that WVU wore today?

DAWGS! Driving back from the game now.

    🙂

WVUs uniforms reminded me of Brian’s ‘peanut butter jelly time’.

    Haha…PBJ time, nice reference.

At the time I was thinking “Peeps redux”, a carryover from the Peeps vs Creamsicle (Oregon/Tenn) matchup.

But now that I have Brian Griffin in a banana outfit in my mind, I like that better.

This just in…Udub has very shiny helmets.

OSU just got incredibly lucky after an absolutely stupid play by the punt returner.

    Big Time.

Can’t believe that dude went anywhere near that ball.

Paging CD, your boy Abbrederis (sp?) with a career day. Dude is fun to watch.

Tip drill in Tempe has the Devils poised to take a lead on the Trojans.

sun devil qb’s dropping like flies

EDIT: Wash St. QB’s dropping like flies. Must be getting delirious…is it possible I’ve watched too much football for one day?

Buckeyes are legit. Urban meyer has yet to lose there. Watch out.

Sun Devils taking the Trojans behind the woodshed.

Long play for USC as I’m typing, but that still only cuts the lead to 21 (missed PAT…ooops).

USC losing is never bad in my book.

Who was it on Gameday this morning who said they thought USC would roll?

    Yeah, ok.

ASU has hung 62 on them….so far. Still better than 3 mins to go.

    Nice defense Lane Kiffin.

  14. Wufpacker 09/29/2013 at 1:58 AM #

What was the over/under on this game?

103 total so far, still 2 1/2 mins to go.

    Sheeeesh.

For the record, I still don’t believe in tOSU. I think any of the SEC Top 5 (Bama, TAMU, UGA, LSU, Chickens) would beat them convinvingly (as would Stanford and Oregon). If they were a legitimate contender, they would have scheduled someone that could test them. This was their toughest game before late November. At home against #23, a team whose best player is a honky WR.

I wish I had stayed up late enough to see Lane Kiffin’s dead-eyed idiot stare…but alas I am testing my post-surgery gimp knee with some Sunday morning tennis. That’s extra bold, with me all outta painkillas, yo.

We’ll see how it plays out on the field. They are going to be right there. We know the SEC will be in. Question is will it be against Stanford/Oregon winner, or Clemson/FSU winner? A lot can happen as we know. Still a ways to go.

    Lane Kiffin out at USC!
