Here is where we discuss all games other than the captivating State/Central Michigan tilt (be still my beating heart).
My record last week identifying watchable games was wretched, to put it mildly. Let’s hope this week shakes out better.
For those of you that, like me, don’t expect the Chickens and UCF to be a sleeper matchup, eyes should focus on Okie State at West Virginia (noon, ESPN). The ‘eers have been awful early on, but will be playing at home with their backs squarely against the wall. Needless to say, we will all hope for the earth to open and swallow both sides in Chapel Hill. Just pray for a quick game, so it doesn’t bleed into the SEC time window that much. I hate you, Raycom and WRAL.
The bad news is that State’s game is opposite the clear Game of the Day. The good news is that you only need to flip over to that one game – LSU at Georgia (3:30, CBS). Some people will watch Oklahoma/ND, but I have no earthly idea why. The new, cool Pope says it’s OK not to give a shit about this one.
A cornucopia of SEC options late – Bama’s trap game against Ole Miss (6:30, ESPN), TAMU at Arky (7:00, ESPN2), and the train wreck that is Florida at Kentucky (7:00, ESPNU). Plus the first of several possibly interesting Pac 12 matchups, Arizona at Washington (7:00, Fox). Certainly 2 of those 4 will be watchable. I consider Wiscy at OSU to be dull and unwatchable, unless the other four flame out.
Stanford at the Fighting Mike Leaches (10:00, ESPN) might be the under the radar game of the day, for you insominiacs. And you can flip to Southern Cal at Arizona State (10:30, ESPN2) and look out for HWSNBM sightings. Plus, you know, the Sun Devil cheerleaders.
