Sept. 28 Open College Football Thread

Here is where we discuss all games other than the captivating State/Central Michigan tilt (be still my beating heart).

My record last week identifying watchable games was wretched, to put it mildly. Let’s hope this week shakes out better.

For those of you that, like me, don’t expect the Chickens and UCF to be a sleeper matchup, eyes should focus on Okie State at West Virginia (noon, ESPN). The ‘eers have been awful early on, but will be playing at home with their backs squarely against the wall. Needless to say, we will all hope for the earth to open and swallow both sides in Chapel Hill. Just pray for a quick game, so it doesn’t bleed into the SEC time window that much. I hate you, Raycom and WRAL.

The bad news is that State’s game is opposite the clear Game of the Day. The good news is that you only need to flip over to that one game – LSU at Georgia (3:30, CBS). Some people will watch Oklahoma/ND, but I have no earthly idea why. The new, cool Pope says it’s OK not to give a shit about this one.

A cornucopia of SEC options late – Bama’s trap game against Ole Miss (6:30, ESPN), TAMU at Arky (7:00, ESPN2), and the train wreck that is Florida at Kentucky (7:00, ESPNU). Plus the first of several possibly interesting Pac 12 matchups, Arizona at Washington (7:00, Fox). Certainly 2 of those 4 will be watchable. I consider Wiscy at OSU to be dull and unwatchable, unless the other four flame out.

Stanford at the Fighting Mike Leaches (10:00, ESPN) might be the under the radar game of the day, for you insominiacs. And you can flip to Southern Cal at Arizona State (10:30, ESPN2) and look out for HWSNBM sightings. Plus, you know, the Sun Devil cheerleaders.

Thanks to a Kareem Martin shot to the QB helmet ECU up 14-0.

… in the meantime… the pie…RATS are giving the Holes more than they can stand… Up 14-zip in the first quarter.

That said…. as much as I dislike ‘The Carolina Way”…. I’ve got too many friends and family members who grad-ge-ated from there to wish them a whole year of having to put up with the pie-RAT fans when they are victorious.

Besides… it’s OUR JOB to make the Holes miserable…. not the pie-RATS.

This is OUR STATE, not either of their’s…..

OK, seriously…how pussy does football have to become before folks are satisfied?

Horrible call goes against the ‘Cocks.

SoCar DB ejected for clearly hitting shoulder to shoulder. Under review but clearly not a shot to the head of the WR and no intent there.

  6. Wufpacker 09/28/2013 at 1:09 PM #

    Agreed Jigsy.

  7. 1.21 Jigawatts 09/28/2013 at 1:10 PM #

Good job on the reversal of the ejection.

UCF really giving it to the Cocks. Is Shaw out after that hit earlier?

  9. Wufpacker 09/28/2013 at 1:14 PM #

I’m flipping around. Not sure about Shaw.

I must have missed the play you’re referring to.

Man, Grey. If I had a little more jingle to make the trip down from ESVA I’d be glad to take those tickets off your hands!

A block below the waist just negated a *NC TD.

    HAHAHA

  12. 1.21 Jigawatts 09/28/2013 at 1:19 PM #

Shaw got hit on his throwing shoulder, fumbled the ball and went limping off the field… they were taking his gear off.

U*NC keeping it classy with as many unsportsmanlike flags as ECU has touchdowns.

  14. 1.21 Jigawatts 09/28/2013 at 1:21 PM #

Ok, announcers just said Shaw out for rest of the game.

Chances for upset just went up.

    TCU/SMU knotted at 7.

Apparently Jesus is having a hard time deciding in Texas today.

  16. BJD95 09/28/2013 at 1:25 PM #

    Thompson is better than Shaw.

  17. Wufpacker 09/28/2013 at 1:25 PM #

    Wow…I didn’t know that.

‘Cocks pumped and primed for a good….

    Oh, nevermind.

I think I just saw veggie burgers being grilled out on the top of a parking deck. Must be Chapel Hell.

The refs give the holes an untimed down at the end of the first, the replay the down to start the 2nd. They had 4 cracks at it and take a field goal….wow. And these are c-USA refs.

The Cocks look limp and lifeless today in Orlando.

  21. BJD95 09/28/2013 at 1:38 PM #

LOL @ confused Jesus in TX.

South Florida might be the worst team in all of D1-A.

  22. BJD95 09/28/2013 at 1:42 PM #

Would love to be a fly on Spurrier’s wall at halftime. He’s seriously gonna stroke out. Dunno how any of these guys make it to 70.

  23. Wufpacker 09/28/2013 at 1:43 PM #

Yes, going to the break, the ‘Cocks certainly find themselves in a hole.

And in the battle of “which former ACC coach has the reddest face”….

    …it’s currently a draw.

  24. redcanine 09/28/2013 at 1:43 PM #

Up yours, *NC. Fedora doesn’t know what’s going on. LOL!

  25. BJD95 09/28/2013 at 1:45 PM #

We might be able to beat the Holes after all. They terrible.
