Sept. 21-22 Open Football Thread

This is probably the worst weekend of the season, college football-wise. Lots and lots of uncompetitive “action.” Here is what I see as a viewing guide for today:

10:00a – Everton at West Ham, NBCSN (Extra Time, channel 1520 for TWC-NC HD feed). Start your day with the English Premier League soccer Pack, trying to avoid a letdown after last week’s gutty upset of asshole franchise Chelsea. As far as I can tell, my constant cheerleading has produced exactly zero new Toffee fans across the pond. Boo. If I’m wrong, you can experience match day with me (Evertonian in NC) and my mostly British cohorts here. It’s a fun, profane group that will sort of remind you of SFN.

Noon – I got nothing here. I may watch the end of GT/Holes if the Bees are winning comfortably. Maybe. Go talk to your family or something equally distasteful.

3:30p – Tennessee at Florida, CBS; West by God Virginia at Maryland, ESPNU. Two games among teams that probably aren’t very good, but have shown signs of being potentially interesting. It would represent HUGE progress for Butch Jones at Tennessee and Randy Edsall at Maryland to beat hated rivals a bit on the downswing. And hate is usually fun to watch.

7:00ish-p – Arizona State at Stanford, Fox; Auburn at LSU, ESPN. Both games would be far more interesting if the road/home splits were reversed…but I will take what I can get. Nobody is totally sold on just how good the Tree or Mad Hatters are this year, and this will be at least a moderate test for both. Certainly not watching the flaming bag of feces that is ABC’s national game – Michigan at winless UConn. Blech.

Terps doing well is never a good thing.

    No way, no how.

I hate Clemson, don’t get me wrong.

But Terps must always fall. Unless they’re in Chapel Hill.

Then the obligatory meteor strike is the preferable scenario.

I hate Maryland, too. But I can definitely see that upset happening IF Tiggers get by the Noles.

ACC went unbeaten today, outside of conference head to head action. That is good. Arkansas loses to Rutgers!

Tosh is one of my guilty pleasures.

Didn’t know he had posted video of me, however. I was having a moment with myself there…what can I say?

    😉

Wufpacker, I didn’t know you were a 19-yr old college student. Have you been posting here since you were 12?

Meantime, UConn is giving UM the Shocker.

UM should just run the ball.

@PackFamily, to hear most people tell it, I’m still only 12.

Utes draw first blood in the battle of Big Love in Provo…

But as I’m typing the Cougs return the ensuing kickoff for 6….

    But nooooo…holding on BYU.

    Still 3-0 Utah.

Cam Newton with a monster game. He has the goods, just needs some help. Panthers put the fork in the not so giants.

I really like watching RW. I did not like watching the end of the GB game.
