Wolfpack Baseball and Doak Field has been selected as a regional host site for the NCAA Baseball Tournament for the second straight year.
The Pack barely misses out on a national seed. If I may wax philosophic for a moment….
Losing 2 of 3 to FSU at home slit our throats, no doubt. That, coupled with finishing a half game behind the ‘Noles in the Atlantic Division did us in. We finished with a better RPI than they did (#7 vs #8) against a tougher schedule. In fact, if you look at us against the top 8 national seeds, aside from Carolina, we are the only other team to earn our top 8 RPI against a top 10 schedule.
Thus, letting FSU punk us in Raleigh is the only good explanation. Oh well, time to move on.

The Raleigh Regional is paired with the Eugene Regional. Thus, should the Pack emerge unscathed from Raleigh, they will likely go on the road (big time) to the pacific northwest to Eugene, Oregon to face the Ducks for the Super Regionals, should they hold serve at home.
The Pack could still host a Super Regional in Raleigh should the Ducks fail to advance from Eugene. So….GO RICE!!!!…GO SAN FRANCISCO!!!!…GO SD STATE!!!! (Sorry Ducks…nothing personal).
