In a game that featured dominant pitching from both clubs and very little offense to speak of, Wolfpack pitching managed to make fewer mistakes and stymie ECU for the second time in a week.
Andrew Woeck (3-1) would work 1.2 scoreless innings to record the victory, giving up only a single hit while striking out one and not walking a batter. But it was freshman starter Karl Keglovits who deserves the major kudos in this one.
Keglovits, who has had some recent adventures when manning the hill for the Pack, was steady as a rock on Tuesday night, setting the tone early for what would prove to be a classic pitcher’s duel at the Doak. He would work 4.2 scoreless innings giving up only 2 hits, striking out one and walking none.  He faced only one batter above the minimum but would not figure in the decision.
Grant Sasser would come on in relief and work the scoreless 9th inning to preserve the win and record his 3rd save of the season.
ECU pitching was nearly as effective, yielding only 3 hits to Wolfpack batters on the night. But mistakes would prove costly for the Pirates as the Pack would score the only two runs of the game in the bottom of the 6th inning.
Leadoff hitter Brett Williams would reach when he was hit by a pitch and advanced to 2nd on a wild pitch. Jake fincher then drew a free pass. After Trea Turner and Brett Austin both went down on strikes it looked like ECU might work out of the jam, but a passed ball allowed both runners to advance. Tarran Senay would then plate both with a bloop single that managed to find the grass between the ECU LF, CF and SS in shallow left center to make the difference for the Pack.
