Round of 32 Open Thread, Redux

Fred Hoiberg’s bunch giving the Buckeyes all they can handle. Here’s to more competitive basketball (though Marquette/Butler was epic), and two blue losses today.

    LOL…great minds BJD

    Closing mine since you’re on top…errr…yeah. 😀

  2. BJD95 03/24/2013 at 2:10 PM #

LMAO! I am quite concerned that IU/Temple will be a snoozer. It also sucks to know we would have had the time slot all to ourselves, and I wouldn’t have missed out on any flipping between games. Que sera, sera.

  3. Wufpacker 03/24/2013 at 2:18 PM #

That just means you might have been able to see the entire dismantling.

Of the Hoosiers I mean, of course.

  4. BJD95 03/24/2013 at 2:19 PM #

Cyclones have completely frustrated and befuddled Craft. Great heart by this bunch.

  5. Wufpacker 03/24/2013 at 2:20 PM #

Cyclones can’t seem to decide if they want this game or not. I’m getting dizzy.

  6. BJD95 03/24/2013 at 2:25 PM #

Wow, shoulda been and-1 and ballgame. Plus 4th foul on Craft. Wow, that sucks.

  7. BJD95 03/24/2013 at 2:28 PM #

Ohio State will shoot for the win. This has to suck for Cyclone fans.

  8. Wufpacker 03/24/2013 at 2:31 PM #

    Indeed.

  9. Wulfpack 03/24/2013 at 2:31 PM #

Big 10 really starting to flex its tourney muscle with yet another three that can punch its ticket later today. Pretty impressive thus far.

  10. Wufpacker 03/24/2013 at 2:36 PM #

Can’t decide who to pull for in the next game. I’ve got Indiana going to champs game and losing to the ‘Ville.

On the other hand, pulling for the underdog is tough not to do.

On the other hand (yeah, I’m a mutant with three hands) I’m still pissed at Temple for schooling us.

What’s a bipolar NCSU fan to do?

  11. redcanine 03/24/2013 at 2:39 PM #

We scored 50 on Temple in the second half. There’s no telling how many the Hoosiers will drop on ’em today.

Ah hell, I guess I’ll pull for the Owls. Hoooooooo.

  12. BamaPack 03/24/2013 at 2:39 PM #

I really wish they would completely do away with the block/charge call since officials are either too dumb or incompetent to call it halfway correctly.

  13. BJD95 03/24/2013 at 2:44 PM #

The way the block/charge call is officated also is a deterrent to playing real defense. That is, trying to block a shot.

Why do that, knowing you run a good chance of drawing an anticipation whistle, when you can just jump underneath him when your opponent starts to elevate?

What craft did was not only poor defense – it’s really a dangerous play. There’s absolutely no rational reason for officials to reward such crap.

  14. Wufpacker 03/24/2013 at 2:47 PM #

    ^ Yupper.

Also, I’d like to see that little BS semi-circle moved out about 3-5 feet, but that’s just me.

  15. BamaPack 03/24/2013 at 2:48 PM #

Agreed. It’s a dangerous play which ends up being rewarded.

  16. BJD95 03/24/2013 at 2:53 PM #

Oh, and for the record…Go Owls! They beat us fair and square. No hard feelings. 😀

  17. MP 03/24/2013 at 2:55 PM #

That was a turble call. And Barkley said so more than once.

  18. Wufpacker 03/24/2013 at 3:00 PM #

Barkely, lol. Cheapskate can’t even bust open his wallet for a couple of programs and sticks poor ol’ Alec with the capitalone bill.

  19. BJD95 03/24/2013 at 3:08 PM #

I think the circle has done more harm than good. The lazy refs now only watch that, and if you get outside the circle, they call a charge regardless of whether you actually had position or not. Blech.

  20. BJD95 03/24/2013 at 3:13 PM #

Of course the Owls couldn’t throw it in the ocean from a rowboat today. Of course, they are also being defended today. Res ipsa loquitor.

My Indiana analysis remains the same. Don’t let Oladipo beat you. If Zeller does it, so be it.

  21. Wufpacker 03/24/2013 at 3:16 PM #

Wonder if our guys are watching this game today and getting bugged because they have to go to class (allegedly) tomorrow.

    I’d like to think so

  22. MP 03/24/2013 at 3:16 PM #

In some strange way, it kind of feels good to not be watching State play in this game. I guess I was becoming weary of watching them play.

  23. choppack1 03/24/2013 at 3:17 PM #

Isn’t it funny that the bad calls usually benefit the favorite… and refs are supposed to make the game fairer.

  24. Wulfpack 03/24/2013 at 3:22 PM #

Looking like IU will coast by Temple. Just too many threats..

  25. BJD95 03/24/2013 at 3:22 PM #

Yeah, this game woulda drove us nuts. Indiana getting away with murder. Plus they’re really good.

Amen, chop. It’s not like the favorites need another thumb on the scales. But that’s definitely what they get. “Tendencies” ya know.
