Wolfpack Baseball got back into the win column tonight (finally), snapping a four game losing streak and topping the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington on the road by a final score of 10-6.
Despite another shaky outing by a Wolfpack starting pitcher marked by control issues, this time from Anthony Tzamtzis (1.0 IP, 2runs on 3 hits, 3 BB…faced 4 batters in the 2nd and failed to retire any of them), and an unusually generous outing from Andrew Woeck who relieved Tzamtzis in the 2nd (2.2 IP, 4 runs (3 earned) on 2 hits, 3 Ks, 3 BB), the Pack bullpen would settle in and shut the Seahawks batting order down, blanking them over the final 5.1 innings.
Josh Easley would enter the fray to start the 4th inning and would get the victory (2-1) with a strong outing in relief (3.0 IP, 0 runs on 2 hits, 3Ks, 1BB). Chris Overman would come on in the 9th with 2 out and retire the only batter he faced to suppress the last Seahawks’ surge and earn the save (4).
But the biggest news of the night was the return of Trea Turner to the lineup for the first time since he suffered a high ankle sprain vs Clemson 19 days ago. And Turner didn’t disappoint, picking up where he left off before the injury.
Batting as the DH and 2nd in the lineup tonight, Turner would go 3 for 4 (3 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 BB). Not to be outdone, Brett Austin also had a 3 for 4 night (1 RBI, 3 runs scored, 2 BB, stolen base(8)). Jake Fincher also had a multi-hit effort, going 2 for 4 with 2 walks.
The win moves the Pack’s record to 17-9 (3-6 ACC)

It’s nice to see Turner back sooner than anticipated. Even nicer to see that he’s not coming back rusty. With a bit more rehab, hopefully he’ll be back manning SS before too long, but his bat being back in the order is huge and will hopefully be the spark needed to get things back moving in the right direction for this team.
After the game tonight, Turner had this reaction (via twitter) to his return:
Trea Turner â€@treavturner – Man that felt good!
Looked pretty good too quite frankly. Glad to have you back! 🙂

The Pack is next in action this weekend at home vs Maryland when the Terps come to town for three at the Doak.
