Media selects Howell, Zo, CJL, TJW All ACC

Richard Howell was deservedly named 1st Team All ACC; Lorenzo Brown, 2nd; C.J. Leslie, 3rd.

Howell was a beast this season, averaging 12.7 points and 10.6 rebounds per game; he led the ACC in boards. Brown led the ACC with 7.0 assists per game and also contributed 12.5 points per game; he likely would’ve been on the 1st team if he hadn’t missed three-and-a-half games with the ankle injury. Leslie averaged 14.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

If CJ made third on rep and hype, JMM made second on the crybaby blue color of his uniform – not performance.

Maybe Lo makes 1st team without the missed games, but I still say he commits too many turnovers for my taste. 3.6 TO per game is OK (and only OK, not good) if you’re in Nash/Stockton territory of 10-12 assists per game.

IMHO, taking care of the ball is Rule No. 1 for a PG. Everybody’s on CJ when he plays wretched, but as much as I love Lo, his year is sprinkled with 4, 5, 6, and 7 turnover games. In only one of our losses (that he played in) did Lo have less than 4 TOs.

On the other hand, it’s understandable considering that this is only his second year as PG. In fact, it’s pretty remarkable how good he has become in such a short window. That’s player development.
