Florida Gulf Coast – An Appreciation

Like most Wolfpack types, I needed something to smile about tonight (and Villanova was unable and/or unwilling). Florida Gulf Coast proceeded to put on an athletic show at the expense of the most “successful” Princeton O program. The Hoyas were surly, unsportsmanlike (kicked a guy in the head, drawing a foul…on FGCU for pushing him out of the way), whiny…and out on the first weekend. Again.

So it could always be worse. We could be stuck in that level of hell.

The wife picked FGCU… figured the win over Miami wasn’t a fluke… appears to be right.

My question is – who the hell, among the rest of the crappy teams they played, BEAT them often enough to make them a 15? They don’t look fluky – they look big, athletic, and good.

Georgetown isn ‘t an unsportsman-like team, they just play that way. Dad taught his son well.

Despite the Pack loss early in the day, I had more fun watching this upset than I have watching a game in a long time. And it wasn’t just the historic seeding.

Tip of the hat to Beej for his consistent and sometimes criticized message on playing style. That was the diff last night. Those boys were playing risk/reward basketball, and it was damned exciting to watch.
