Elite Eight Sunday

Syracuse and Wichita State have already punched their tickets for Atlanta.

Michigan and Florida going at it as I type.  So far the Wolverines are taking the Gators’ lunch money and kicking them in the nads for good measure….41-17 at the under 4 timeout of the first half.

Duke and Louisville go at it a bit later.

Talk amongst yourselves….

Nice run by ‘Ville. On the verge of putting this one away.

  2. JeremyH 03/31/2013 at 7:15 PM #

this is about where I’d expect Duke to get off the train. They are a top 10 team, but never were a top 5 team, despite their rankings throughout the year. Kind of like we were never really a top 10-15 team. (maybe top 20-25)

I don’t what you’re talking about JH, State “was picked” to be top 5!

  4. TheAliasTroll 03/31/2013 at 7:17 PM #

Any team going up against Ville the way they are playing are going to be getting off the train.

Louisville is a fun team to watch. They play hard and fast… very well coached.

  6. Texpack 03/31/2013 at 7:22 PM #

I thought before the game Duke had little or no shot. Louisville is too athletic and they know how to make you play fast because they have vastly superior guards.

ACC going to be well represented in the Final Four by Louisville & Syracuse…

  8. JeremyH 03/31/2013 at 7:28 PM #

Barber is the type of player ‘Ville has.

  9. JeremyH 03/31/2013 at 7:30 PM #

Marshall Plumlee, heh, like Eli is to Peyton.

The “Big Least”… Could the ACC have raided a better conference??

  11. choppack1 03/31/2013 at 7:35 PM #

Of course, the problem won’t be talent will it? How hard will he and his teammates be required to play all year.

  12. wolfmanmat 03/31/2013 at 7:37 PM #

Not to tand up for Duke but they got toughest draw in the tourney. Do wedoubt that in any of the other 3 regions a sa 2 they are in the Final Four?

  13. Clarksa 03/31/2013 at 8:00 PM #

Answer: George Mason, Butler x2, VCU, Wichita State

Question: Mid-major teams that have been to the Final Four…thanks Monteith, Fowler, and the rest.

Answer: John Beilein & Greg Marshall

Question: Two coaches we had a reasonable shot to hire…both who I remember not wanting.

Maybe if they hadn’t wet their panties in the ACC tourney they would have been in a better bracket.

Wal mart Duke fans are the worst. Glad they lost. Doesn’t appear they will be that great next year.

    baseball season now, boys

Outside of Louisville, I don’t know who was a top 5 team this year. A bunch of really good teams but little to no separation. Louisville stands out as the best, and they should roll to a national championship. I think Syracuse will get by Michigan so it should be an all Big East, err, ACc final, with the Cards cutting them down. Duke did indeed get a tough draw but that is the way the cookie crumbles.

I’m super glad Duke lost. I didn’t even watch, was so scared they would win. Sounds like I missed losing my lunch (saw Theisman live, that was enough for one lifetime).

Wichita State has Scary Wheat, and Louisville is just a joy to watch when they’re right. That is a fascinating semifinal, both teams are just so intense.

Michigan has the best player, by far. Classic offense vs defense matchup. I wonder if Cuse will relax a bit, after how they wrecked Indiana. Michigan got that second chance thanks to Bill Self and Elijah Johnson, and they are playing like a team possessed. We’ve seen what a sense of destiny can do for a team. Well, those of us of a certain age have.

I love basketball, ladies and gentlemen. Just love it. Though the first weekend was much more compelling viewing.

Anybody that didn’t think Beilein and Marshall weren’t good coaches hasn’t been paying attention. They’ve gotten it done wherever they’ve been, and I do mean wherever. At some point you have to look at the track record and say, yep, he can coach. Doesn’t matter where he is, he just wins.

as above, and as i’ve posted:
down year for this year’s ACC.

  21. Wulfpack 03/31/2013 at 9:15 PM #

Sunday, the league is at risk of missing the Final Four three straight years for the first time since 1961, which leaves the ACC at risk of making a mockery of its own slogan, “A tradition of excellence: Then, now and always.”

Seems to me many of us wanted Beilein, but Jeb screwed that one up.

As for Syracuse and Louisville representing us (ACC), this is where I’m getting off this ACC Train. Those two are not now and never will be ACC teams as far as I’m concerned.

Damn Swofford and all of his henchmen.

  23. john of sparta 03/31/2013 at 10:28 PM #

    c’mon now, 13OT.
    Gamecocks?
    please remember that the ACC
had a conference champ in Boxing
    for the first year.
    things change.

  24. JeremyH 03/31/2013 at 11:10 PM #

Beilein had a big buyout and some of us were wary because he ran a Princeton-style offense. Does that sum it up?
