Elite Eight Sunday

Syracuse and Wichita State have already punched their tickets for Atlanta.

Michigan and Florida going at it as I type.  So far the Wolverines are taking the Gators’ lunch money and kicking them in the nads for good measure….41-17 at the under 4 timeout of the first half.

Duke and Louisville go at it a bit later.

Talk amongst yourselves….

Gators with a little run to almost make it respectable and pull to within 17 at the half. At least they sort of got some momentum going into the break.

Still, a performance proving that while NC State might be out of the tourney, ncstateshit is not.

I have to say this has been a very boring tournament. So many blowouts and the play is just horrid. Winner of Duke/Louisville takes it all.

Wichita State?? Man.. I could kick everyone in the media who voted for the pre-season top 25 right in the groin…

Winners crash boards, and fast breaks are secondary.

So, do you suppose other fanbases are as tired of seeing Whitt to Charles in ’83 as I am of seeing Laettner turnaround vs Kentucky in ’92?

    Damn.

    Ouch.

    What a disgusting injury. Yuck.

I hope the kid makes it through the night, dealing with all the pain.

  8. choppack1 03/31/2013 at 5:49 PM #

    What happened with injury.

  9. WolfTrack 03/31/2013 at 5:50 PM #

This is an excellent game (besides the injury of course). Anyone else excited for Louisville to replace the Twerps?

    Plumlee is an absolute mess.

That was worse to view than Theisman.

I missed it. Did the bone break through the skin or was it just a severe bend?

  12. Wufpacker 03/31/2013 at 6:03 PM #

    @choppack1,
Duke’s Thornton shooting a three, ‘Ville’s Ware did the flyby thing going for the block.

When he landed his right tib/fib basically disintegrated, Joe Theisman style.

EDIT – I couldn’t tell if it was compound or not WAC…didn’t look like it but they never showed it very close up.

Just googled it and saw a youtube video… Ouch. How does that even happen?

  14. choppack1 03/31/2013 at 6:08 PM #

Thanks. They said that hasn’t happened before… but I think Livingston (former Duke commit) had a similar one in an NBA game. Thank heavens it is rare.

  15. Wulfpack 03/31/2013 at 6:11 PM #

Never seen anything like it. Injury aside, this is the game of the tourney. And boy does Louisville play defense.

  16. WeAreCured 03/31/2013 at 6:13 PM #

It’s so strange. I guess it is like a perfect storm situation with the angle of the leg at impact with the ground and the amount of pressure applied. Even so, it just doesn’t seem like that should happen to a healthy leg. Maybe he had some kind of calcium deficiency he didn’t know of. Poor fella.

I hope they don’t show it at the half or on ESPN.

  17. Wufpacker 03/31/2013 at 6:13 PM #

Already on youtube eh? Yeah, why not.

  18. redcanine 03/31/2013 at 6:16 PM #

Try to land on two feet if you can.

  19. Wufpacker 03/31/2013 at 6:16 PM #

WAC – sometimes the angle, etc increases the load on the bone in just the right way. As Jack Torrance said “A few extra foot-lbs of energy per second per second…(snap)”

That being said, there are a couple of medical issues which can make such things more likely to happen, at least one of which can be extremely serious so hopefully nothing like that is underlying.

When that happens without a previous injury it could also be an indicator of a bone cancer. (Former stepmother is an orthopedic surgeon..)

  21. Wufpacker 03/31/2013 at 6:29 PM #

    ^ Precisely.

  22. TheCOWDOG 03/31/2013 at 6:30 PM #

I replayed at half and caught the pistol crack sound.

Not much kept that thing from falling off.

Couldn’t see blood or bone, though. He’ll be back at the half.

  23. redcanine 03/31/2013 at 6:44 PM #

Rub some dirt on it, aye Cowdog?

L’ville needs to be careful. Duke can make those free throws.

  24. vtpackfan 03/31/2013 at 6:51 PM #

Reaction of ‘Ville bench was awful. Like they just discovered a corpse. Love that CBS replayed it 5 times before next weekend when it’s all dogwood flowers and azaleas.

The Ville is good as a mahfukkah
