This one was pretty simple, Maryland guarded the 3 and prevented Duke from winning from behind the arc. That and Maryland hit their Free Throws and made their 3’s.

1st Half:

A tight game until the final 3 minutes when UNC made a mini-run. If FSU can cut down on the turnovers and defend the 3 better I think they can win.

    Duke will be a 1 seed. Duh. We all know the only reason they lost was because they were intentionally resting for the NCAAs. That should be rewarded.

    I don’t care who is tired or who State draws whenever. I think they can beat any team in the ACC. Next up is Miami – I hope the boys are focused. They should be since they owe the Canes something.

    I hope Duke does get the #1 so that South Dakota State or Western Kentucky can make them the first 1 to lose vs 16. That will make ”em forget about the Lehigh game.

    Maryland plays 8 or 9 guys so they would likely be fresher. But I would take that bet in a heartbeat, for the Pack of course. I still think this shapes up nicely for the Heels, which I am not happy about. I was looking forward to Duke laying the smackdown on them for the third time this year. Hopefully it will be us that will lay it down for the second time, but they will be ready. Would make for a very lively championship. Gotta get by Miami. They are going to be a tough out.

    Hogewood was ruminating that this loss could be a good thing for Dook since they’d have time to rest, and that with the Big10 beating each other up they might need it. Ridiculous.

    I was thinking about the ACC coaching carousel today, and how this may well be a year when there are no changes. Probably too early to make any kind of change at Va Tech, GT or BC. In fact, I would be encouraged as a BC an with such solid young talent. Donahue received a vote of confidence from the BC AD. Clemson may think about removing Brownell, but I doubt it. We all agree Wake should fire Bzzzzz, but he is butt buddies with Wellman. Perhaps Wellman gets canned over this? I want to see a change there. Bzzzz is such a terrible coach, and has zero personality. The only other change I could foresee would be Bennett at UVA, but that would be a major stretch.

    I believe that this Noles team can pull this one out if they can keep it close around the 8 minute mark of first half. They have some young freshman who are starting to get the hang of Hamilton’s Aussie Rules Basketball.

    Strickland draws Snaer and will probably get embarrassed tonight. He is all talk-no game. Must be from all the silly courses he had to take that required one graded assignment; an Oral presentation: What I did over the Summer.

    The weirdest thing about the buddy system at Wake is shouldn’t Wellman be able to say “hey buddy, you don’t want to take me down do you?”

    If he has to say that, he is already going down. It is his job to make the tough calls, not the coach’s. Many Wake fans want to see Wellman hit the road.

    I actually think Grobe may want to transition into the AD role, if it came available. He would most certainly be a popular choice.
