It is great to see that the Carolina Way is not dead!!
You’ve got to see this. And, you’ve got to let every high school coach and top recruit in the state see this — because it can only serve to show the coaches and parents of impressionable young men what kind of great ‘leadership’ and ‘development’ to which they will subjective themselves if they choose to go to school and play football in Chapel Hill. (Oh, you read that correctly — students evidently really will have to ATTEND school in Chapel Hill to play football in the future.)
Shortly after the news broke today that former NC State player and head basketball coach Sidney Lowe had been arrested on tax related charges, an employee of the State of North Carolina used a device and an internet service surely provided to him by the taxpayers of North Carolina to issue this little gem of a tweet that takes an obvious shot at Coach Lowe’s misfortune:
Don’t forget income taxes are due April 15th! #GoHeels
— Gunter Brewer (@CoachBrewerUNC) February 18, 2013
Look, I love the State-Carolina rivalry; and, I can’t help but love how the RedBull Redneck and his staff continue to elevate NC State in the way they do things over there. I also love for fans to really go at each other just like we do here on SFN. But, none of us are supposed to be leaders of men. None of us are in positions where it is our responsibility to lead by example and develop the character of young men as college coaches like Gunter Brewer.
The gall that it takes to be a Tar heel is truly something that most rational humans could not remotely understand. It doesn’t even strike old Gunter as remotely sensitive that he currently is employed on staff of a University – and specifically a football program – that is in the middle of the ‘worst academic fraud in the history of college athletics’.
As an NC State fan, I would like to thank all current and former NC State coaches for not embarrassing our community by showing a lack of class when UNC women’s soccer coach Anson Dorrance was being sued for sexual harassment by his former players; or when UNC’s old wrestling coach was arrested for a DUI; or when strange things were afoot on a team coached by Ford and played for by McInnis; or when (I think you get the picture).
Ahhh how glorious it must be to be a Tar heel and live in a glass house?
I am including a picture of the tweet below just in case it mysteriously disappears.
