FSU game day thread

Looking to make it three in a row. We are playing FSU tonight at 7. The Pack is favored by 8.
I think we finally have a good game and win by 12+.

It appears Buckets is coming out of his slump so if we can just get Purvis back to playing well we could be hitting on a cylinders going into tournament time. Rodney’s problems are all in his head so hopefully the coaching staff can help him work through this.

Ever notice when there’s a controversial call that goes against us, the TV producer crew never show the replay of that play, but instead substitutes a replay of some prior good play.

Did he say play on Sundays?

    Like as in football?

“We’re going to see CJ play on Sundays”…. The NBA plays only on Sundays now?

    Howell is Talibeard
    Woo is almostbeard

    Great half.
We played both sides of the court.
When we play like this we are a very good team.

Brutal shooting by FSU kept them from coming back late. We are doing an excellent job on the glass.

9/11 FTs, 21-10 reb advantage for the half. Not bad.

9 TOs really the only really sore spot, though I wish Woo had gotten a few more attempts.

Overall, a good first half-good distribution of minutes. Let’s run them into the ground in the second half…

Has anyone noticed the improvement in this team throughout the year?

Rebounding used to be a problem
Defense used to be a problem
Depth used to be a problem
Finishing close games used to be a problem
    Offense was never a problem

So far so good. This is one of those “could be a 20 point lead” games. I’d like to see them stretch it out and actually cruise to a win.

Seriously – very good half. Got to be happy with the passion and effort.

No, Sunday is the day the NBA uses for teaching players how to pass.

  13. Wulfpack 02/19/2013 at 10:51 PM #

Awesome half. Keep it up. We could use an easy one.

We’re winning because our defense is doing the two things it is normally terrible at: defensive rebounding and forcing turnovers.

LOL re: playing on Sundays. I heard that and thought way to grasp the obvious….but completely missed that it was “Sundays” etc. That’s hilarious.

Anyone read that ESPN article on Jay Williams and what he went through.
I am impressed with how he bounced back from some stupid mistakes. Less than that has broken weaker men.

I have not seen that Rick, but will make sure to check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

This game makes me all happy inside.

The kids are taking care of their business tonight playing one of the worst road teams in conference. Keep it up and cover the spread fellas.

  20. NCSUPackfan 02/19/2013 at 11:00 PM #

FSU is one of the better road teams in the ACC. They have the 2nd most wins on the road in ACC play.

    Get your stuff correct Alias

  21. TheAliasTroll 02/19/2013 at 11:02 PM #

Florida State on the road pts for: 56.1
Florida State on the road pts against: 65.4

Got beat by nearly 30 at Wake.. I got my stuff correct.

Halftime stats are fairly even with one exception. We won the rebound battle 20-9.

Dunno if any of you frequent this RPI site, but they also do projected conference tourney brackets/seedings.

Interesting thing is they have Miami as likely 1 seed, Duke as likely 2, yet give Duke way bigger chances to win it. Similarly, UVa currently as likely 3 seed, us as likely 4, and Carolina as likely 5. Yet the chances to win it are reversed in order.

At least that’s how I read it. Agree with the Duke better chances than Miami, though maybe not that much more, but kinda surprised they give Carolina the nod over us.

It still amazes me how Leonard Hamilton keeps his job. I mean FSU could be the #1 team in the nation and still have the most un-organized/rambling team every year. It’s like PacMan.
