Clemson game thread

Given BJD’s recent history with game threads I think it is a good idea to mix things up. I think we win this one by 13. The first half stays close but we pull away in the second. This starts our run to finish 11-7 in the conference.

Oh I know, but Lewis is the primary handler. It is a great mix with the two of them. And they can both shoot. Purvis won’t see much time as long as this keeps going good.

“I’m thinking some zone with the lineup that looks best on the floor”

Cowdog, if it will help us box out, I’m all for it. Way too many easy ones for Clempson that half.

Hey BJD! Quit bogarting that glue and pass it along already, huh?

  4. Wulfpack 02/10/2013 at 1:35 PM #

Wood is no threat if he puts it on the floor, so you gotta get up in is grille. He is easy to defend. Of course, give him an inch and he is lethal. But teams are figuring it out.

The problem with Woo and the pump fake is that it takes him so long to “re-load.”

Or making a TO with a walk because he can’t keep his feet on the floor.

You would think Wood would learn that tactic of getting the defender to leave the floor before shooting but adjustments seem to be too late for some players this far in their career as sad as that sounds.

The thing about zone is Booker is there to clean it all up. They seem to be getting in the gaps and are finding him down low. He is a very dangerous player. Leslie is outmatched there.

I’m curious to see how Clemson shoots on the right (on my screen) side rims. They seemed awfully tight to me. There were a ton of in-and-outs in the half. One of Leslie’s free throws went over the backboard – I’m not sure I’ve ever seen that. That’s a tight rim.

CJ can’t keep trying his spin moves, Clem is just packing the lane. TL playing well, I wish he had pulled it out when State had the ball down five instead of going 1 on 3. Props for hitting the 2 3’s though.

LMFAO, I think Cheryl/Carol Tunt still has the bottle.

Maybe Booker will smack Rich hard the first time down the floor …

    We can hope…

If they have any chance to win this game, they better come out full speed to start the second half.

  12. Alpha Wolf 02/10/2013 at 1:38 PM #

Clemson is packing the lane because we haven’t had much of a credible threat from the outside. If Opie and Lo can make them pay for that, the inside guys will find some room.

One of the biggest problems the Wolfpack have had lately is that outside threat being missing for huge chunks of the game.

BTW for some reason I keep having to approve a lot of the posts. I have no idea why but I will keep approving them when I see them

Purvis and Brown are tight but I have a feeling that Brown is going to like that #2 spot.

PPP, agreed team chemistry is off. The big guys are having a tough time with the Brown and Lewis combo.

Brown is a better 2 than a 1. and he’s been called best PG in the country. It’s funny he can’t stop directing everybody on the floor and it’s messing up Tyler a bit. We need a designated floor leader. This is what happens when you change the line-up midseason as people are getting comfortable in their roles. The problem is that we were LOSING.

BJD, with all your fancy words and good karma today. Agreed, ALL centers around Calvin. We’ve got to make good entry passes to him. He’s also doing a lot of “grunt” work which doesn’t bring glory. He’s our best player – no choice but to leave him in.

Hope 2nd half doesn’t start like the 1st.

Enjoying the conversation but can’t keep up and watch the game! Not that talented.

Just find a way to win this game Wolfpack. Winning the other games after this is left for another day. We must find a way to win. Dig deep within yourself.

“LMFAO, I think Cheryl/Carol Tunt still has the bottle.”

Is it weird that I find her weirdly kinda very hot?

  17. Wulfpack 02/10/2013 at 1:41 PM #

I’m sick and tired of this Leslie one on one crap.

  18. Rick 02/10/2013 at 1:42 PM #

As tall as Leslie is and the way he can jump why does he ever shoot a fade away? He does not know how to use his jumping ability if he is not dunking hte ball.

  19. wufpup76 02/10/2013 at 1:42 PM #

Scott has to hit that …

  20. Wulfpack 02/10/2013 at 1:43 PM #

Because he is a stick. Guys force him out.

  21. Wulfpack 02/10/2013 at 1:45 PM #

Ok, we’ve got this down to 4. Playing better. Keep playing hard and maybe we can get this one. Can’t let Clemson make a run.

  22. mak4dpak 02/10/2013 at 1:45 PM #

Leslie is a legend in his own mind!

I like the Zo/WBS dynamic in the first few minutes of half two. They are essentially switching on and off during each half court possession. Makes it harder for the defense to identify who will start the play and where it will begin.

Essntially, it’s like having two PGs that are BOTH running the point, which is confusing because nobody really does it. Neat stuff.

  24. ADVENTUROO 02/10/2013 at 1:46 PM #

Bill…..is there snow on your beach?

Totally agree…..Need a little more from Howell and also some parity in the tweeting. Might slow down the muggings.

Our two “white boy” offense was something that many folks, as well as myself speculated about.

I am totally at awe of TL’s shooting. So, he had a TO. That is only one in about 100 minutes of playing since ZO went down or one every 50 minutes. I THINK it was an ESPN talking (reading head) that oohed and gushed about a PG in the UNC-Miami game that was around ONE TO per 23 minutes. Larkin is 16.8 this year which is an improvement from his 13.8 last year.
Strickland is averaging 19.5 minutes per TO and Paige is 11.5.
TL, admittedly, does NOT have their minutes, but he is really holding his own.

I am trying not to just lose it on Calvin
