Clemson game thread

Given BJD’s recent history with game threads I think it is a good idea to mix things up. I think we win this one by 13. The first half stays close but we pull away in the second. This starts our run to finish 11-7 in the conference.

WBS has 2 mistakes thus far but the combo with Him & Brown looks pretty good. We have 2 great ball handlers/leaders/ passers on the court at one time.

Anyone care to guess our Ast/TO ratio for that half? No fair cheating and looking either.

Agree Jiga. Again, most of the team seems unwilling to make a reasonable effort. Pisses me off. Why even suit up? We need 5 players that really want to play HARD. This is not a pick up game.

I wouldn’t put Purvis or Warren in again except for foul trouble and giving some guys a breather. They’ve hit a wall and have got nothing left in the tank. Unfortunate- these guys have a lot of skill and athleticism but psychologically some Freshman just can’t hack it. Maybe next year will be better.

We’re lucky to be within 6. Still winnable if someone can extract some heads from asses in the locker room. We are going 1-on-3 way too often, early in the shot clock. Not enough ball movement. Gminski’s making comments about how none of our shots are easy. That’s because we’re not finding open shots.

    Rick,
CJ is without a doubt the worst of them.

Assists: Them – six, Us – THREE!!!!!!!

  8. BJD95 02/10/2013 at 1:26 PM #

We will loosen up the interior if Zo and WBS keep making some threes. That is the secret recipe.

I would like to see them both play the whole second half. Zo is probably walking in place all of halftime to keep that ankle loose. And WBS is an energetic little dude. They can handle it.

Everyone is down on Calvin for a reason. All anyone has to do is watch him play and continue to force the issue.

^eas…. that’s right… plus those two 3-pointers by Tyler are much bigger than just six points…

    Tyler => Brown == Brown scores inside…
    Brown -> Tyler == Tyler scores outside…

    THATS BIG….!!

..of course… Tyler is just taking and making the same shots Woo just to shoot…

Hope this team shows up the 2nd half, so tired of their lack of effort and intensity. And Leslie trying to take on the whole team to score. Pass the ball, because somebody is open. Big dumby.

One thing is for sure – Lewis is our PG going forward.

  13. FunPack 02/10/2013 at 1:28 PM #

Like everybody, I’m diggin the Lewis & Brown combo. Would play those two together as much as possible this game.

Shot selection is to be questioned. Body language is something we all know all too well.

We have a tendency to leave our man on defense and allow Clemson the open 3. That is something we have been doing all year though.

  15. BJD95 02/10/2013 at 1:29 PM #

I would take some exception with the Calvin criticism – he is still playing hard, fighting on defense and on the glass, plus being the only guy drawing fouls on the Tiggers. But he’s lost and selfish on offense.

Talibeard being MIA is what shocks me.

I am concerned with Booker going off. Can’t let Clemson get a good lead as they D up at home.

I’m thinking some zone with the lineup that looks best on the floor

Lewis and Brown seem to be playing well together and they are the only ones so far. I hope Gott leaves them out there the second half. I also hope he is in the locker room chewing out some folks. There is no excuse for this continued half assed play.

  19. Rick 02/10/2013 at 1:31 PM #

Woo and Leslie are upper classmen but are playing like freshmen who hit the wall.

Has no one ever taught Woo how to pump fake? He would be incredibly effective with it.

  20. BJD95 02/10/2013 at 1:31 PM #

WBS was playing more like the two when paired with Zo. Which I really liked seeing. It’s non-traditional, but effective.

  21. eas 02/10/2013 at 1:32 PM #

Anyone who doesn’t see the clear advantage of WBS as PG and Brown as 2/PG please remove your goggles.

  22. Tuffy2 02/10/2013 at 1:32 PM #

Now that Lewis has been hitting from the outside one would think Wood should be able to get some shots in the second half. One would think.

  23. Texpack 02/10/2013 at 1:32 PM #

We’re going to have to play a lot better defense in the second half if we are going to stay in the game. Second chance points have really hurt us.

  24. Rick 02/10/2013 at 1:32 PM #

They do not play like a team who has gelled and are ready to make a run.

  25. BJD95 02/10/2013 at 1:32 PM #

The problem with Woo and the pump fake is that it takes him so long to “re-load.”
