(14)Miami at (19)NC State – Game Thread

Because Zo Brown is significantly hobbled, it seems BJD95 is too depressed to even have a raging semi (live blog, that is).  😀

Thus it will be the basic game thread today folks.

You know how these work.  Have at it.

I will take this all day long. Awesome dunk by Purvis.

    …Smoke if you GOTT ’em…

could not have hoped for a better first half under any circumstances…. Get well LO….

Chill, Jeremy. CJ let that one go right over his head. He should have been looking.

  4. BJD95 02/02/2013 at 4:19 PM #

Wow. What a last 10 minutes. This would be our biggest win of the year, not even debatable (IMHO).

  5. wufpup76 02/02/2013 at 4:20 PM #

Pretty damn great effort so far.

    40-34 Pack at the half.

  6. Wulfpack 02/02/2013 at 4:20 PM #

Lewis is really damn good. Hope he can keep it up in the second half. You know Miami is going t come out firing. But hey, I love our effort, and our play. We look really good on so many levels.

  7. coach13 02/02/2013 at 4:20 PM #

Lewis definitely getting into the flow.

  8. Texpack 02/02/2013 at 4:20 PM #

We are not plying scared or going into a shell. This will make us better in March but we need to finish today.

  9. JeremyH 02/02/2013 at 4:21 PM #

We’re going to have to talk Lewis out of turning pro : )

  10. WeAreCured 02/02/2013 at 4:22 PM #

BJD, this would definitely be our biggest win of the year. No question.

  11. MrPlywood 02/02/2013 at 4:22 PM #

This is exactly what I was hoping for re: Lewis. He’s got some confidence, and the team has confidence in him. Can’t ask for anything more out of that half. 20 minutes to go.

  12. Wulfpack 02/02/2013 at 4:22 PM #

    Lewis = Kaepernick

  13. WeAreCured 02/02/2013 at 4:23 PM #

My bad on my previous comment, Jeremy. I thought you were being sarcastic about Lewis’ passing.

  14. eas 02/02/2013 at 4:24 PM #

Lewis wasn’t getting free chicken nuggets from WacArnolds for nothing. He is a solid point guard no doubt. Great back up for Zo. He just needs minutes.

Only complaints I have are 1) our D is still like Swiss cheese, and 2) TJ Warren needs to stop taking threes. TJ shoots more than anyone else on the team per minute (we’ve looked at the numbers), and it’s obvious.

Lewis – wow. It feels like this one might be for grandma.

  17. tractor57 02/02/2013 at 4:26 PM #

Nice to see both Lewis and Vandy play some productive minutes. Vandy giving a blow to the big guys without causing problems and Lewis looks like a totally different player so far.

At least for this game Lewis is the better at point vs Purvis and that doesn’t cause problems with the 2 guard.

Coach GOTT told Tony and Gary pregame…. he had total confidence in Tyler Lewis.

Maybe we should *listen to the Coach more….

  19. WeAreCured 02/02/2013 at 4:27 PM #

Agree re Warren’s 3s. He can put it up all day long from 10 feet and in. The guy has the best field goal % in the ACC, but he shouldn’t be taking low percentage shots. That last one was well defended too. I don’t think they realize how much all of those types of shots and possessions add up throughout a game. If they played smart and disciplined for 40 minutes, that would be a sight. They’re just kids, though.

“Look at that! Tyler’s got a job!!! Way to go, Tyler”

WacArnolds is proud to give young point guards a chance on the proving grounds and an opportunity to improve their surroundings.

Very pleased with the first half…this game, win or lose, will help us this year-now let’s go win it!

  22. Wolfpack F-14 02/02/2013 at 4:29 PM #

I think Vandenberg gave us some good minutes and obviously Lewis is getting better the longer the game goes on. I just wish they both would have gotten more minutes earlier in the season giving us a deeper bench.

  23. xphoenix87 02/02/2013 at 4:30 PM #

I’ve been saying all year that people are panicking too early on Lewis, he’s going to be fine. Well…he’s fine guys :).

Enough good things cannot be said about Richard Howell. He is a monster on the glass, he kept us alive offensively for the first 10 minutes, and he’s playing outstanding defense. He’s switched onto Scott a couple times and been left on an island against him, and played great defense both times.

  24. hoop 02/02/2013 at 4:30 PM #

I am shocked, SHOCKED, we are up 6 at the break. We have a propensity to get sloppy though so I hope we can hang tough in the second half!

  25. Alpha Wolf 02/02/2013 at 4:30 PM #

Now State needs another 20 minutes of solid hoops with no lulls where it lets Miami sieze control of the game and steal the win.

    FINISH!
