Miami 44, State 37

State Miami beat State 44-37 in a game that will long live in infamy in the Hall of Fame of all-time worst performances.

Short version: Despite outgaining Miami 664-651, State’s defense couldn’t stop the big play — Amerson was responsible for all six Miami TDs — and State’s offense gave the ball away six times, including a fumble by Palmer on the Miami one yard line. The crucial turnover was Glennon’s pick with 48 seconds left that set up the subsequent 62-yard TD game-winning TD pass with only 19 seconds left.

More to come…maybe.

LRM, you said we were way slower, was that mentally or physically? Or maybe both in this game!

The way I see it we have 2 major issues on D.

1st Amerson has fallen in love with the pick. He is cheating on plays all the time. That is part of the reason that we give up big plays. He is a free safety on the next level. He needs to get back to just covering his guy and stop playing for the pick and his draft position.

2nd we don’t have a violent playmaker at linebacker. For the last few years we’ve had Manning and Nate at linebacker. Both played with great violence. We don’t have a player like that on defense right now. No one is blowing up the o-line like we have in the past. Until then, we will have trouble with teams that can protect their QB reasonably well.

I thought Yow was the only one supporting the fridge and hated Gary Williams. I thought that was why they fired him right after she left for Raleigh.

Not that it really matters. It’s not like we’d realistically hire him anyway.

Though, even a day later, I still strongly fell that TOB gotta go and we will attract a quality coach!

    “I LOVE NC STATE UNIVERSITY!

However, we are NCState, in the ACC. We have always been as good as we’re gonna be. And that’s as good as it’s gonna get, in Football.

It stinks, I know. But I’ve come to accept it.

DY will do what’s best, when necessary”.

GOTNCSTATE- Are you kidding me!? Go back and look at the rankings while Dick Sheriden was here. We were in the top 25 for some years . Chuck Amato had us ranked some years while Philip Rivers was here. Say what you want about Amato and how undisciplined his teams were but remember he never was a head coach before that. What is TOB ‘s excuse for losing control of this team and how undisciplined they are.

Accepting that we are as good as we are going to be is settling for mediocrity. I will never settle for what has happened here and just like in BB this thing will get turned around. Just not with someone along the lines of TOB.

DY will knock it out of the park with the next football coach and thank god she does not have to confer with you when the time is necessary.

I would never want the Fridge as HC, but I’d take him as an offensive coordinator.

Well, we may not be able to get a coach currently in the SEC (except maybe James Franklin), but we can get a coach that just last year was in the SEC and had a top 10 team. If we’re willing to take a coach with a little tarnish and seen as an overall jerk, we might be able to hire Bobby Petrino. Face it, at some point someone will hire him.

  7. Cabin Creek Wolf 10/01/2012 at 9:53 AM #

Six, I’d rather have Jim Tressel than Petrino. But if it came down to it, I’m sure Ray Price HD would negotiate a sweet deal on a Harley for Petrino.

  8. Wulfpack 10/01/2012 at 12:11 PM #

DY will not be hiring Petrino, you can take that to the bank. Red flags everywhere on this guy. He won’t even get a phone call.

@ Tuffy2, you are correct. However, I believe the best bowl we went to under Amato was the Gator Bowl when we defeated ND. Rivers got snubbed from Heisman ceremony b/c of our record (or not being ranked high enough).
Coach Logan once said “expectations are 1 step ahead of reality.” So is potential. And in reality we are a mediocre team on the national scene. It is NOT what I want, but we are.
I concur with your comment about Yow’s next fball hire. Yup, I am just a fan w/NO athletic administration background. She’s the pro, not me.
Overall, State’s a good program w/flashes of greatness
& yes I will continue to LOVE & support NC STATE!

I suppose my comments fall in the “WHEN KEEPIN’ IT REAL GOES WRONG” category, huh?

Tuffy2, the only problem is we are State in the ACC. If we get a decent coach, he will not stay long. To prove my point, look no further than Mack Brown (UNC) and Steve Spurrier (Duke). If DY lands a winner, we soon lose him and we are back to square one – so it really does not matter. We are who we are, a BB school/conference. I think that is the point GotNCstate was trying to make.

“However, we are NCState, in the ACC. We have always been as good as we’re gonna be. And that’s as good as it’s gonna get, in Football.”

That’s self-defeating. Yes it would be hard to turn the ship, but if you don’t try you never will.

  12. NCSU84 10/01/2012 at 4:17 PM #

Yes alphawolf, but at some point you must face reality. How many charter member ACC schools have been trying for 60 years to build a powerhouse football team? Ans: All of them. How many have succeeded? Ans: None (Clemson maybe). So you see, it is not just NCSU, but the conference as a whole. We are what we are and I am beginning to accept that fact. Once you accept that fact, losses like the one we experienced Saturday will not hurt so bad. Now, lets move on to ACC BB season where winning is expected.

    NCSU and GOTNCSTATE,

Have you ever heard the phrase “NEVER GIVE UP”? Most anything can be done if there is total commitment. We have a Stadium in place with facilities all with the goal of one thing.
There will be coaches if young of course leave for a higher profile jobs. As long as they seeded this program and won a championship DY and NC STATE has some legs to work with.
There are other examples to give by many other people on hear to show why this football thing we play is not just the side attraction at NC STATE.

Some of the more powerful football schools over the years in the ACC have made the transition over to being as deadly in BBall, by the way

My last comment on this thread.

I feel that we all (Wolfpack Nation) want the BEST for NCSU! I know we do. We want ACC Championship banners. We want NCAA Championship banners.

Never Give Up, Never Give Up!

    Go Pack!!

Tuffy, I posted previous comment before reading yours.

(chuckles) WE AGREE! NEVER GIVE UP!

    Cheer well my friend!!
