Glennon and Lucas named team captains (WFMY Greensboro):
NC State’s football squad officially reported to camp on Monday evening, and one of the first orders of business was to elect captains. The team voted to elect quarterback Mike Glennon to represent the offense and linebacker Sterling Lucas to represent the defense.
“Being elected by their peers is testament to the leadership that these two young men have shown,” said head coach Tom O’Brien. “Not only have they worked hard throughout spring practice and in our summer workouts, but Mike and Sterling have also already earned their degrees.”
WRAL:
With a stellar offensive line and an all-star quarterback, the NC State offense could produce some fireworks this season.
The Pack finished the last season on fire, averaging 41 points in their final three wins. As preseason practice beings in West Raleigh, quarterback Mike Glennon expects to pick up right where he left off last season.
“I know I’m confident, we have a great line, we have great running backs and we’ve been working hard at the receiver position,” said Glennon. “So I’m very confident that our offense will put up a lot of points this year.”
Glennon doesn’t have T.J. Graham to throw to now, but sophomore receiver Tobias Palmer should step right in as Glennon’s go-to guy.
“Last year you know I was new to the program,” said Palmer. “I was trying to get aware of the offense but this year I feel as though I’ll have more of a grasp of the offense and just ready to play.”
Sophomore running back Tony Creecy has a year under his belt now and he provides Glennon yet another target coming out of the backfield.
“I played receiver in high school so I know how to run really smooth routes, so when I go against the linebackers that helps out tremendously because I get them going one way and I go the opposite way,” said Creecy.
Speaking of Creecy, GoPack.com is running a video series called “Creecy’s Pieces” focusing on his summer preparations (Installment 5).
