This is not good news for NC State Basketball.
RALEIGH, N.C. – Incoming men’s basketball freshman Rodney Purvis will not accompany NC State on its upcoming 10-day exhibition tour of Spain due to an ongoing process with the NCAA Eligibility Center. According to the NCAA, the high school is under extended review, which is a cooperative process, due to Purvis’ class being the first to graduate from the school.
Per NCAA rules, incoming freshmen student-athletes must complete this process in order to participate in a summer foreign tour prior to full-time matriculation.
“Obviously the timing is not ideal,” head coach Mark Gottfried said. “I’m disappointed he will not travel Sunday. He could join us once the process is completed, but my primary focus is making sure Rodney is ready to pursue his goals at NC State over the next four years.”
Remember that – unless something changes – Lorenzo Brown will not be in uniform for NC State in Spain. So, the Pack will be without our two projected starting guards and will be starting a freshman, Tyler Lewis, who has never run Mark Gottfried’s high post offense.
