The ACC has announced the pools for this year’s ACC Baseball Tournament; and with eight teams ranked in the RPI’s Top 40 this year’s tournament could end up being one of the best ever! You can click here for the bracket.
NC State resides in ‘POOL B’ and will play a round-robin format with arch-rival and #2 seeded UNC-CH, #6 Miami, and #7 Wake Forest.
Under the pool-play format, each team will play one game against each of the other three opponents in its division Wednesday-Saturday (May 23-26). The two teams with the best records within their respective division brackets will advance to the title game on Sunday, May 27, with the winner earning the ACC’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
The Wolfpack’s schedule is as follows:
Wednesday: Miami vs. NC State (3 p.m. ET, RSN)
Thursday: Wake Forest vs. NC State (7 p.m. ET, RSN)
Saturday: NC State vs. UNC (7 p.m. ET, RSN)
Isn’t it interesting that the NC State-UNC rivalry should mean so much to the ACC that they pick the game as the premier game in the Tournament to showcase on Saturday night in primetime? No further comment is needed here about the ‘wise’ decision to have these schools only play each other once per year in basketball in the future
The following is the entire schedule as this thread highlights. It is a positive for the Pack to have Friday off…but, of course there was NO WAY that the ACC would give State the day off and not also give it to the Tar heels. 🙂
