WRAL: T.J. Graham preps for NFL Draft

WRAL:

“Speed, speed, speed. That’s one thing you can’t teach,” said Graham. “A lot of guys in the NFL can’t run as fast as I can. I’m not going to out-muscle anybody, but I will out-run you. I’ve been catching a lot of ball, too, because they say I can’t catch.”

So every day, Graham works on his hands at his old high school field at Wakefield, taking passes from former East Carolina quarterback Rob Kass. Projections are all over the map on where, or if, Graham will be drafted. He thinks at the very least, he can find a role returning kicks in the pros.

“I’ve improved my draft stock a lot. I can be a punt returner and kick returner that can save two roster spots and hopefully help out the team that way,” said Graham.

Hell, the Texans drafted Trindon Holliday in the 6th round exclusively for speed despite only being 5’5″. That didn’t work so hot but hopefully TJ has a better shot being closer to the WR prototype.

He’ll never make it if he was judged solely on his WR skill set. Not that he’s bad, but it’s a numbers game. There are just to many better receivers. However, with his ST skills, he has a legitimate shot.

Speed or not, he needs to hold onto the ball. Way too many muffed punts for the NFL. They’ll give him a chance, but muff a couple, and he’s gone.
