Pack/Castrated Turkeys Game Thread

It’s the 5 seed (against BC Thursday night) or the 7 seed (Wake). Sadly, seeds 4 and 6 are now out of reach.

But going over .500 in league play has always been the highest and best realistic goal for this team. It would be a major accomplishment, and earn MG my “vote” for ACC Coach of the Year. So a win makes this season an unqualified success.

Unlike Wesnesday, I don’t feel especially good going into this game. VPI is playing much better, though their record doesn’t show it. That’s a dangerous combination for a fired up team looking to play spoiler. We shall see. Remember, I’m not a great prognosticator.

That was a nice switch by Calvin

Who knows if that “bad losses” was even right. I mean they did blow it the first time…

What about the fact that outside of FSU and UNC we were in every game we played this year.

We’re two FT’s from winning at Clemson, one field goal from winning against UVa, second half collapses that cost us games against Duke, Indiana and Stanford.

We were so very close this year to be being a solid NCAA team by this time in the season.

I hope that gets some people to rethink, if we should be in or not.

    A veritable carnival of whistles…

^Yeah, I hear ya BJD. Both L’s were on the road, but I guess they’re still considered a bad loss. Oh well…

    “A veritable carnival of whistles…”

Its like the ACC wants to destroy itself

  7. BJD95 03/04/2012 at 7:46 PM #

There have also been plenty of games that we could have easily lost, but won. That stuff usually balances out.

VT’s lineup is like BJD at a singles bar.

    Just can’t score 😉

did cjw not get slapped on that layup?

Cannot the league bigs see how ACC refs are killing the league and team play?

“Cannot the league bigs see how ACC refs are killing the league and team play?”

As long as the Duke/UNC game is big they do not care about anything else

  12. BJD95 03/04/2012 at 7:50 PM #

    LMAO, Rick!!

    This game is almost unwatchable.

  13. Gene 03/04/2012 at 7:51 PM #

Refs killing the league? Didn’t Duke and UNC play the final game for the regular season title and what could be the difference between a 1 and 2 seeding in the NCAA tournament?

    I think that’s mission accomplished.

  14. Rick 03/04/2012 at 7:51 PM #

    “This game is almost unwatchable.”

If I was not a State fan I would not be watching it.

  15. BassPacker 03/04/2012 at 7:52 PM #

I blame the deterioration of ACC basketball on the refs. They suck the energy and flow out of it.

  16. BJD95 03/04/2012 at 7:53 PM #

Even as a State fan, my mind continually wanders. I don’t miss much.

Raines picks up 3 fouls before the first media timeout. That last one was certainly legit.

These guys in stripes just got called up from Hershey.

They’re horrid. Not horrid partiality, nothing partial about it.

    They are wholly horrid.

Davis is turning out to be pretty good.
Brad Daugherty is one of my all time favorite announcers. He was fantastic.

  19. Wulfpack 03/04/2012 at 7:54 PM #

It really is quite sad what the ACC has become. The armpit of the league – BC, Miami, Wake, GT, and now VT generates absolutely no fan support. Glad we are upholding our end of the bargain.

  20. WolftownVA81 03/04/2012 at 7:56 PM #

However, I wish the announcers would shut up about things not related to this game.

  21. Gene 03/04/2012 at 7:57 PM #

The game’s so boring the announcers don’t want to watch it!

  22. Rick 03/04/2012 at 7:57 PM #

    Their parity statistic is misleading.
I would argue, the awful boring play is responsible for the close games.

  23. BJD95 03/04/2012 at 7:57 PM #

Again, I’ve been watching lots of mid-major tourney action. The officiating there is NOT a problem.

Meanwhile, looks like we will see whether the Pack or Hokie walk-ons are better. They will be in soon enough.

  24. Rick 03/04/2012 at 7:57 PM #

I think the last palming call I remember was against Gainy.

  25. beeeejay 03/04/2012 at 7:57 PM #

Ugh this is turning into a nitemare in which we blow this game
