Friday Night Revelry/Getting Above the “First Four” Thread

Now that the Pack is 99 percent in the dance…can we skip the Tues/Wed preliminaries? Yes, if everything breaks right.

St Bonaventure’s win helped us, for sure. A Miami win ensures us of 4 Top 50 wins for the season. The hot mess that is the Pac 12 tourney rages onward.

Some games we can now just watch for fun, as we let our heart rates get back to normal. Go Hokies!!

Stupid Michigan has tied it. Looks like Minny will have 1 second to make something happen.

Michigan is a lock, Minnesota isn’t getting in unless they win the Big 10 tourney (pray that doesn’t happen). Where are you getting this – I don’t see this @ bracketology.

BJD, Minnesota needs to LOSE. No bid stealers need to win their conference tournament.

Well.. except us. But at this point we aren’t a bid stealer.

This is only the quarters, I can root for the underdog. 🙂

Cinci is up 10 on ‘Cuse. Lot’s of ball left to play but that’s shocking. There’s a joke about drugs there somewhere.

BJD, “I see you rolled your way into the semis.”

Like to live on the edge, eh?

According to Joey Brackets, we are only two spots away from escaping the dreaded play-in game.

LMAO!! This is not ‘Nam, this is bowling. There are rules…

I just really dislike Michigan’s style of play. Gives me bad flashbacks.

ESPNU broadcast just said Lunardi has the Pack in the tournament. Things are lining up and State could be a tough out if we get in the dance.

you flash your piece out on the lanes, i take it from you and stick it up your a$$ and pull the trigger until it goes, “click.”

I think Joey is wrong about us being after Washington. So if Xavier loses…we rise up out of the First Four. Help your alma mater out, Arch!!

I also think Drexel and somebody else will get in ahead of Seton Hall and Mississippi State. There will be one mid-major in the First Four.

Does Temple losing hurt us? Or some other bubble team? I have to think it does.

  14. BJD95 03/09/2012 at 9:14 PM #

Yancy Gates’ head (Cincy) is also waaaaay too small for his body. Freaky shit.

I also think we could bump USF down to the First Four. In fact, I will predict same to be Drexel-Miami and USF-Xavier.

  15. BJD95 03/09/2012 at 9:16 PM #

It will hurt us if UMass goes on to win the A-10.

  16. STLPack01 03/09/2012 at 9:16 PM #

If we are only two spots from getting out of the play-ins, then these are the teams directly ahead of us (according to Lunardi)

    41-Harvard 42-Colorado St. 43-Brigham Young 44-VCU
    48-Xavier 47-Texas 46-South Florida 45-LONG BEACH

We want these guys (except for maybe Texas and Long Beach) to lose. VCU, South Florida, BYU, and Harvard are no longer in their tourneys.

Definitely be rooting for San Diego State over Colorado State, and Dayton over Xavier.

STL – calmer than you are.

You’re not wrong, Walter, you’re just an asshole.

does anyone else notice when calvin doesnt get a call/ or gets a bad call against him. he immediately looks at Gott for re-assurance. Its the same look i would give my dad when i was 10 and messsed up. Gott has forged a real relationship with Calvin. he has done the best coaching job in the conference by getting Calvin to buy in

Cincinnati looks really damned good. Would like to see them and Louisville in the final, that would make interesting viewing.

All I know is that this is the first time in about a decade I have watched every game in the ACCT and gone looking for old video tapes (and a VCR in the attic) to watch old State games into the wee hours of the night.

Maybe we don’t matter a lot…yet…but damnit, we MATTER for the first time since before the Scandal.

I doubt we beat Carolina tomorrow, but maybe…just MAYBE.

  22. BJD95 03/09/2012 at 9:25 PM #

That’s why MG got my COY vote. I love how he mixed carrot and stick with Calvin.

  23. NCSU84 03/09/2012 at 9:25 PM #

A win tomorrow is a MUST! If we cannot defeat a team like UNC in three attempts, then one can make a strong argument that we do not belong in the NCAA tournament. Think about it. Our in-state rival in a semi final conference game with a NCAA bid on the line. If we can’t compete at this level given this scenario, then perhaps we do not deserve an invitation.

The game tomorrow is for all the marbles. Win and your in – lose and, oh well, there is always next year.

Cronin really is a good coach. People would have been unhappy if we hired him, but I think he would have done a good job here. (and not that isn’t meant to speak against Gottfried.)
