Afternoon/Evening Bubble Watch

Oregon State leads Washington inside of 40 seconds left. Alabama has choked up a big lead and is tied with lowly South Carolina.

Feeling now like tomorrow’s tilt with the Hoos will be our play-in game.

According to Joey Brackets, we have to get past three of NW, Drexel, Texas, Xavier, Seton Hall, Tennessee, and Oregon? So, NW goes down. Drexel is done. We’re rooting for Texas to lose to ISU or no? We need them to win to prop up our RPI? I don’t know what’s up w/Xavier, SH, or Tennessee. Oregon plays late….

I’m pulling for Miami, against Texas. It’s complicated. Would be nice for Mississippi State to lose. Starting to think we are in regadless as long as we win tomorrow. Maybe because my brain is tired of thinking through bubble permutations.

Think South Florida is in regardless, and I have trouble ever cheering for Notre Dame. I know this isn’t football, but still. Screw those guys.

It’s very simple: beat the Hoos tomorrow afternoon, we can rest easy no matter what happens against Carolina.

Lose and…we’re tuned into WTNY radio all summer. WTNY: Wait Till Next Year.

Win and we’re in doesn’t sound right to me.

Miami/GT is every bit as visually unpleasant as one would expect. I’m at risk of a wee couch nap.

  6. lawful 03/08/2012 at 10:31 PM #

    South Florida is in.

Me either lawful, but I hope it’s true. And I am still not convinced Drexel gets in, though seems like the committee loves the CAA.

GT/DaU is just FUGLY to watch

I’m with BJD. I’m tired of trying to figure it out. Just take it day by day and win tomorrow! All this speculation is for nothing if we don’t beat Virginia. The picture will be clearer tomorrow around 4pm.

I just hope our guys come out and play like they know their NCAA tournament life is on the line because it is.

We beat UVA and short of some late crazy conference championship crap I say we’re playing in the 1st 4 games. Miami/Texas give us 3 more T50 wins and I think we skip the play-in games.

Right now I just want to beat UVA and get in. Everything else would be gravy.

I, for one, won’t be shocked if VTech upsets Dook tomorrow.

The fact that Lunardi has Washington, Drexel, and Seton Hall all among his ‘Last 4 In’ is laughable.

You can make a case for Drexel – a weak case – but Washington and Seton Hall? No.

He has Washington in there purely b/c they are the regular season champs of the Pac 12. Sorry, that doesn’t cut it. The entire league has one top 50 win. That’s like the MAAC regular season champion being in just because. Oh wait, you could make more of a case for Iona than you could Washington.

And Seton Hall? Nope. Not happening.

OK, I admit to being confused. Am watching the “Can’t Win v. Don’t Won’t to Win” game and it is UGLY.

Can, seriously, one or more of you guys who are students of bracketology, please clear up a few things?

Do WE want Miami to Lose? and WHY? or WHY NOT?
Do WE want Texas to Lose? and WHY? or WHY NOT?

Might have to tune to an ESPN station to look at the crawler.

Agrees with everyone, it is LATE. I hope that the Team is tucked snugly in THEIR OWN beds and are resting up for a good showing tomorrow.

Had a great dream last night where the NCSU Marching Band did a cameo appearance. THAT was a good sign.

Thanks for any insight….this whole guessing game is probably just that. If we win tomorrow, our chances improve, regardless of how the bubble teams all do…

Then we can focus on Saturday.

Been at the Tourney and sat through all four games. My butt felt like how the GT & U team is playing….ROUGH.

It is unbelievable how painful this Mia-GT game is to watch.

  15. ScottieJ2000 03/08/2012 at 11:35 PM #

Pretty sure we want Miami to beat GT then lose to FSU and hope they are in the Top 50 when everything is all done.

If we beat UVa – I’d think we’d have an RPI lower than 50 no matter what.

Of the 3 criteria – RPI, tought non-conference SOS, and beating good teams – we fit 2 of those. Of course, everyone on the bubble is on the bubble because they don’t meet one of those 3 criteria – if they did, they wouldn’t be on the bubble. Our Kenpom had moved into a Top 50 – so to me, we’ve got an excellent shot IF we win tomorrow.

(Dance card had us at 37% but they don’t count the extra 3 spots…3 spots ahead of us is a 56% chance.)

The reality is that our bubblelicious RPI can’t stand a loss to UVa. This game seals our fate…We’ve played this game a few times – this is the second time we’ve played UVa in the exact same position.

Terrible call against Stanford here down the stretch. It’s just as well, I guess.

Hope Cal wins the tournament and they get the only bid.

Awful call though as Stanford was rallying.

  18. BJD95 03/08/2012 at 11:49 PM #

24-2 run and Da U will advance. Dunno about rambling, but GT certainly is a wreck.

  19. ScottieJ2000 03/08/2012 at 11:53 PM #

I had a bad feeling Cali would have gotten in even with a loss to Stanford. Let’s hope they win it all! That will move us up one spot.

  20. BJD95 03/08/2012 at 11:56 PM #

    And with that…Texas is in.

  21. wufpup76 03/08/2012 at 11:57 PM #

Looks like Texas is going to defeat Iowa St. – so that’s good – maybe?

Hopefully that bumps them into Rpi Top 50, but they’re a fellow bubble contender … Bit of a Catch-22.

  22. wufpup76 03/08/2012 at 11:59 PM #

Georgia is leading Miss State in the 2nd half … I don’t think Miss State makes it with a loss here.

  23. ScottieJ2000 03/09/2012 at 12:00 AM #

I think enough openings are being made with other teams screwing up that Texas winning is good for us. We got one more Top 50 win now.

  24. wufpup76 03/09/2012 at 12:01 AM #

I thought only NC State missed wide open layups like the USF guy just did. Wow.

GT’s season will mercifully come to a close. Not enough banked in 3’s tonight.

  25. BJD95 03/09/2012 at 12:02 AM #

Mississippi State laying down for UGA…can’t imagine they still get in.
