Pack/Canes Senior Night Game Thread

My marginal prognostication gut says the Pack wins rather easily. I suspect that with a tourney bid almost in hand…Da U is due to crap the bed. We shall see.

Congrats to CJ, AJ, and Kendall Smith. Hopefully they all start.

Like BJD has said many times. Wins are gravy. I certainly enjoy watching this team play. Frustrating at the end of games at times, but I don’t feel like I’m completely wasting 2 hours of my life anymore. Thank you to the new coaching staff for improving the quality of this product.

I think aj took a little while to get used to speed and size of this game. His play has been huge lately and he’s shown lots of toughness coming back from that uva game.

Very well played and coached. Good job Pack.

Pulling bigtime for FSU tomorrow night.

Nice effort. The players lost focus a few times, but they kept bouncing back.

damn if we didn’t do everything we could to try and lose that game though

  12. FunPack 02/29/2012 at 11:46 PM #

    We needed that.

Pretty proud of team tonight. We had recipe for a collapse, but they hung in there until the in. Howell’s second half and ability to play controlled and aggressive was a big part of this win. Think about it…he was in foul trouble and essentially eliminated their best player by getting him in foul trouble.

Bjd: hope you are right about coin flip. Emerging pattern seems to be home team winning matchup of flawed teams.

When the last time we won 8 conference games 2006?

  16. Ashman87 02/29/2012 at 11:58 PM #

I’ll say this. This was a good win because we know that at worst, we’ll finish with a conference record of at leat eight wins, which is a big improvement over the Lowe era.

I love Gottfried. He is SO positive.

“Hey guys!!! We’ve still got pulse. You never know! We could finish 4th and have a bye!!! We’re not dead yet!”

We have to at least play in the final tourney game to have a chance. I think the 4 chokes in a row will hurt us too much to have a fighting chance with anything less. Even making the final game is a long shot for the tourney.

If we loose to VT all bets are off.

Not pretty, especially from the charity stripe, but a gritty win. Some good performances tonight, especially Leslie and Brown. Also good to see Wood get his stroke back. Go Pack!

If we lose to VT we need to win the ACC Tourney. Hopefully it won’t come to that.

“If you think there is a chance in hades of us getting a fairly called game when the ACC wants another Duke UNC game you are nuts.

We could have a 30 point lead with 3 minutes to go and therefs would find a way to give it to Duke.”

    @ Rick
I’d be happy with a 30 point lead with 3 minutes left against Duke regardless of the outcome.

    also…

I’m very please with the team this year. The fact that we can break a full court press and still look somewhat decent in tight situations speaks volumes of improvement to me.

Last year I about died when certain players touched the ball. Not the case this year.

Great win today. Really wish CJ Williams had a better game. Calvin is looking great. Hopefully this continues into the ACC/NIT or……NCAA Tourneys & Scott Wood is here to stay, so complaining about the 2nd best three point shooter in the conference is pointless.

guaranteed to NOT have a losing ACC record! Could’ve/Should’ve on the close losses but huge improvements this year. Hope Leslie’s back next year… for the talent but also Leadership.

Hey can we get Shaq to swing by and give FT shooting lesson?

  24. Prowling Woofie 03/01/2012 at 9:02 AM #

Scott, mea culpa… I dogged you when you couldn’t hit the water from the shore, but I give you mad props for last night’s game. Welcome Back !

Leslie was a beast, and AJ was clutch. Great coaching decision to attack the basket at the start of the second half, and especially Big Reggie.

4-4 on home conference games this year. Coulda woulda shoulda been 6-2 or 7-1. Nevertheless, fun to watch NCSU basketball again.
