NC State 76 Wake Forest 40

We don’t get to run many game entries with this score in ACC play!

The last time an ACC team was held to 40 points or less by NC State was before the shot clock era in 1982.

Link to recap

Lorenzo Brown scored 20 points and North Carolina State embarrassed Wake Forest on its home floor once again, routing the Demon Deacons 76-40 on Saturday for its most lopsided ACC road victory in more than half a century.

C.J. Williams added 15 points and Richard Howell had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Wolfpack (13-5, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). They never trailed in claiming their fourth straight win in the series and second straight by at least 30 points.

N.C. State—which entered allowing an ACC-worst 70 points per game—held Wake Forest to just over half that on 29 percent shooting (16 of 55) and gave up only two field goals during a stretch of roughly 14 minutes.

[snip]

…the only question was whether the Wolfpack would surpass the 112-72 rout at Clemson in December 1954 as the most lopsided ACC road victory in school history.

They threatened that record here for the second time in 11 months, after N.C. State routed the Demon Deacons 80-55 at the once-inhospitable Joel Coliseum last February for its most one-sided road win in ACC play since that 1954 season.

Wake Forest finished the game shooting 29.1 percent (16 of 55) and made just 2 of 20 three-pointers on the afternoon.

I share Backing the Pack’s perspective.

I’ll get to the stats whenever the official box score is released, but the numbers really are beside the point on days like today. Wake Forest looked disinterested and lost throughout Saturday afternoon’s game and probably would have lost to last year’s Wake team with this performance. I’m not sure the 36-point margin adequately describes just how bad they were today.

Personally, the most interesting thing to me of the entire day was how few minutes CJ Calvin Leslie (link to recent conversation) played after not even starting. Something is going on here and it will be interesting to watch any developments.

With Carolina currently losing by 14 points (17:33 remaining in the game) and the NFL Playoffs still ahead this afternoon we invite you to talk about anything you want on our message forums throughout the remainder of the day.

Good call on the 69 points, BJD. I was going to make a similar observation. If one measures satisfaction in terms of margin of victory for State and margin of loss for UNC (like I do), then yesterday gets into the drug-induced ecstasy realm.

Saturday was a “great day”, or should I say a “State day”, if you pull for the ‘Pack’, and loathe the tarholes. Don’t you just loves days like that, especially if they are the team we are playing. Go Pack!!!

As for Roy pulling his bench off the court in the end. The announcers said that Coach Hamilton recommended UNX do this for their safety. How sweet of him! Ha! Ha!

Perfect day for me… Pack wins, uncch loses, Brees loses, Tebow loses.

One thing I meant to mention – kudos to the staff and players for responding to a bad loss in the responsible way.

While the GaTech still disgusts me – in a 30 game season – those things will happen. From a defensive standpoint, it may have been our best effort all year.

Now – we just need to bottle this spirit and unleash it for every practice and every game the rest of the way home and we’ll go to the NCAA tournament. (Caveat: We’re not a very deep team and can’t afford to lose any of 7 guys for more than one or two games.)

Too busy to be able to see much of the game, but i saw from the box score that it wasn’t just one or two hot Pack players. That makes this massacre even better.

I am also v. pleased that they responded to the GT game (i was there) with this kind of game, which indicates to me that they are v. serious about working on some things that didn’t help their cause vs. GT. Very good sign, it seems to me. Just what i was hoping to see from them. (i.e., i think this team is HUNGRY! Can’t wait to see them next week!)

What would be your beef with Brees? I can understand UNC-BS (assholes) and Tebow (it is one thing to be religious but you don’t have to throw it in everyone’s face). However what does Brees do that causes you to want him to lose. He is a class act in every way.

Yes it was great to see a Saturday in which State blew an ACC opponent out and UNC got blown out!! ^^ How is honoring ones relationship with Christ throwing religion in someone’s face? Of course the Bible does say that the cross will be an offense to some.

I love this Huffington Post article of “chicken” Roy. Most of the comments are not from NC State fans yet they seem to have similar questions and are just as amazed as us at what they did at the end of FSU game.
