Old MacDonald had a farm…

Amerson had two picks (one a crucial second half pick six, the other securing the win) while Glennon was named the MVP on 21-of-33 passing for 265 yards and three touchdowns.

Video of Amerson’s incredible pick-6 here.

    woot woot!

I dunno, I think Manning and/or Amerson made strong cases for MVP.

TOB moves to 8-2 in his career in bowl games.

TOB: “It’s a game here in our state. We are the state university, not to be confused with anyone else.”

Great game and a good season (8-5 and great turnaround as injured players came back and the chemistry was restored). 9-4, 8-5 and 2-0 in bowl games. Can’t wait to see how next season plays out and hope all the undergrads come back!

It was great, passing out in the hotel room now. GO PACK!!!

I don’t care what any of the SEC homers say. David Amerson is the best defensive back in the nation! I think by the time he’s a senior, he’ll have proved his worth to the ignorant national media and will have taken home plenty of hardware. He is only a sophomore after all. It was a great win for the Pack, and I was glad to see the nation’s best CB shine brightest in the spotlight!

My wife and I got back from the ball game a little while ago. To read the game thread, you’d think we eked this game out. I don’t know if it was the home game atmosphere or what, but I knew we had this game when it was 21-10 onward. I believe we also hold the rights to “last fans to actually exit the stadium.” You may’ve seen us laying beneath the panther statue as you exited.

Official attendance was 58,427. Great win!

Thought plays of the game, the two stops on fourth down or Amerson pick, then 6.. Cole, Manning and Amerson changed the game.

TOB sure knows how to twist the knife into UNC.

    I love that about him.

Nice article by Tudor today about the Holes’ pathetic effort and how stupid it was not to self-impose a bowl ban.

UNC football in 2011 is the gift that keeps on giving.

Thanks to the players and staff for giving us an unlikely successful ending to our season. For the record, I give Player of the First Half to Glennon, Player of the Second Half to Amerson – but Player of the Game to Manning. We’re gonna see that dude on Sundays, but hopefully not until 2013. 🙂

If Bridgewater is able to get out of bed today, I’ll be amazed. Kid got rocked hard, especially in the second half. Cole and D. Johnson were KILLING him…

One other thing which I hope doesn’t become a pet peeve – the next time we run a “Hail Mary” play, whether at the end of the half or game…David Amerson sure as hell better be on the field. I don’t need to see him play offense other than that – but he is an absolute secret weapon on jump balls.

In both terms of ability and especially toughness – I don’t ever remember being more impressed by an opposing plan than I was with Bridgewater. And to think that he’s a true freshman. He’s gonna make Charlie Strong a shit ton of money.

I would be surprised if Bridgewater remembers much of the fourth quarter. I’m surprised nobody talked about giving him concussion tests.

    ^^Spot on !!

If you watch the replay on Amerson’s second INT, you will see him 10 yds or more from the Louisville receiver and he knew right then he was going to get that ball.

We are already making our plans to be in Atlanta for the season opener vs. Tennessee. Almost like back to back bowl games. Not to mention a chance to turn Kenan red again.

^^^ It’s funny you should say that….when he took the rebound shot off the knee, I was very surprised he came back in as quickly as he did (I think he missed one play there). At the time I thought there’s no freaking way they gave him a thorough enough eval there. I agree with you….he’s gonna wake up today, battered and bruised, and not remember half of the hits that got him that way.

    Helluva player.

As far as this…. “To read the game thread, you’d think we eked this game out….but I knew we had this game when it was 21-10 onward.”

I won’t call it “ekeing” it out, but the outcome was very much in doubt until two straight sacks and then Amerson’s pick to basically end it. Don’t forget, they had 1st and 10 at our 45 with about 1:30 to go. If the defense doesn’t step up, that game very possibly goes to overtime or we lose on a 2pt conversion (which would have sucked, lemme tell ya).

Please remember that liveblogs are in the moment “therapy sessions” of sort. Don’t take things too seriously.

Though I do agree that labelling yesterday’s game somehow “unacceptable mediocrity” seriously overestimates our place in the college football universe. Both historically and realistically going forward. Given the alternatives, I’m glad to have TOB and crew for at least 2012.

That said – we need to make serious changes on the special teams front. That’s the position coach slot where I would press to spend significant funds to lure an “all star.”

It was a great win and good ending to a nice season. Two good articles from FOXSportsCarolinas:

    http://www.foxsportscarolinas.com/12/27/11/Glennon-huge-in-NC-States-Belk-Bowl-win/landing_acc.html?blockID=634392&feedID=3736

    http://www.foxsportscarolinas.com/12/28/11/Wolfpack-defense-holds-strong-in-Belk-Bo/landing.html?blockID=634488&feedID=3562

By the end of the year everyone else saw in Glennon and the defense what TOB saw and knew.

BJD95 I agree with you and understand.

Good win to finish off a good season. The game last night was a fun game to watch. Hats off to Bridgewater. He is a tough, talented kid who should do great things for Louisville in the future.
