Pack to battle Texas tonight @ 6:30pm

Unfortunately, another exciting hoops game won’t be televised and will only be available to folks with ESPN3.

Please post pre game conversation and any previews that you want to share in this entry.

Of course, there is conversation about you know who going on here.

But, of more interest to me is discussion of Scott Wood’s injury and its impact on his availability tonight.

We got overlooked by ESPNU for UConn v. Stanford…. women.

I think Gott has to realize, if he hadn’t already, that he’s got a big hole to climb out of when it comes to restoring this program’s national respect.

I simply cannot fathom why this game is not televised on some channel that doesn’t lag and require a super-secret portal that requires a Contra-like password to enter.

Let me try this again… up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, start. Nope. Nothing. Bastards.

I’ll be there in sec. 110. Looking forward to a good game.

GA, you forgot to hit select. ESPN3 is 2 player!

My mind had somehow erased my memories of trying to get those darn Contra codes entered. Thanks for jogging that loose. I may need prozac now.

anyone know of a Cary/Raleigh bar that will be showing it?

  6. gotncstate 11/21/2011 at 11:06 AM #

The paper says it will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Can’t believe this won’t be on TV, all I have to watch on the internet is a iPad and it won’t play ESPN3. Looks like another game sitting by the radio.

Oldwolf–I was in Kickback Jack’s in Raleigh/Garner Saturday night and they had the ESPN3 feed of the basketball game playing. (Along with the end of the OUTSTANDING football game as well!)

CRAP – CRAP – (did I mention?) CRAP!!!!
I HATE watching espn3 – I guess I don’t feel quite so singled out since it sounds like I’m not the only one getting a lousy broadcast. (Do you notice that the Geico commercials all look pretty good?)

Were it last year, I’d just put on the headphones and listed. But I am enjoying watching them play so much that I’m willing to torture myself.

Just a few more weeks and all of them will be on TV

Everyone I know is going to Sammy’s on Avent Ferry

I have found that going to full screen on ESPN3 broadcasts seems to help which is strange as that would normally cause lower definition images to pixelate more. I am watching on a 30″ Apple Cinema Display which probably isn’t hurting my cause (I had no problems on Saturday other than a few digi-pauses). There is also an option to increase the resolution as a menu function on the ESPN3 player (look to the bottom of the view window). The commercials appear to have a much higher screen resolution than the actual broadcast which is probably indicative of the budget allotted for digital broadcasts versus HD network viewings.

Thomas DeThaey is cleared to play, and is on his way to NJ. He will play tonight.

    Great news.

So if we beat TX, will that put a stop to anyone who’s still pining for Barnes?

  14. PackisRolling 11/21/2011 at 12:23 PM #

watching it on the iPad works great (via WatchESPN app)

  15. Packfan28 11/21/2011 at 12:30 PM #

Thanks PackisRolling, I didn’t know about the app. iPad video quality is outstanding for everything else, so I will try that.

Don’t forget Longhorn Network. Fios has the channel and I’m sure they will televise the game.

    Thanks BowlPack, I’ll try it.
Welcome to the team Mr. DeThay! I hope we see you on the court.

  18. lawful 11/21/2011 at 1:14 PM #

Did anyone ever really pine for Barnes? I never saw it. What did he do at Clemson? Has he really done that much at Texas?

  19. baxter 11/21/2011 at 1:17 PM #

Man, considering all the games we get to watch via espn3, I don’t mind the image quality. I don’t think its awful.

  20. MP 11/21/2011 at 1:17 PM #

    Um Yes, They pined.

Just be careful with the Watch ESPN App; it only supports high speed internet through certain providers. I know, I had it when I had Comcast, and it didn’t work at all. This is from the App store to let you know what networks the app is compatible:

“Access to WatchESPN live video is determined by your TV provider and, in some instances, your Internet service provider. The providers below are currently offering access to live video:

    * Bright House Networks, Time Warner Cable & Verizon FiOS TV – ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU are available to fans who receive ESPN as part of their TV package
    * Verizon High Speed Internet – If you do NOT receive TV service from an above provider, but receive high-speed internet from Verizon, you will have access to ESPN3”

  22. GAWolf 11/21/2011 at 1:40 PM #

I have DirecTV and I have AT&T Internet at home.

I also have a 4g Mifi card from Verizon but I use an iPad. If anyone knows how to get this crap given my web accesses and tv contracts, I’d appreciate a quick lesson. I’m a technological baffoon.

  23. Oldwolf 11/21/2011 at 1:54 PM #

It will be on 2 tvs at Woody’s in Cary, 1 bigscreen tv in MAC’s in Cary, and it will be on several tvs at the Brickhouse on Hillsboro street in Raleigh.

Carolina Ale House in Cary will also carry it.

  24. Baccapacker 11/21/2011 at 2:02 PM #

Thanks so much for the iPad tip. Everyone remember too that there’s a small cord you can get for like 20 bucks that will play your iPad through the tv.
