Cody Zeller (and Indiana Game Thread in the Comments)

Given Pack fans distaste for UNC’s absurdly awkward Senior, Tyler Zeller, we found it only appropriate to highlight his younger brother, Cody: the lone freshman in Tom Crean’s starting rotation. I can’t wait to see how the students go after him.

For starters, the family resemblance is impeccable.

Apparently his teammates aren’t trusting young Cody and he is having some trouble getting the ball. ESPN

Crean’s thoughts:

During a preseason scrimmage in October, Indiana coach Tom Crean saw something he didn’t like: His top freshman, Cody Zeller, wasn’t getting the ball. So Crean stopped practice to institute a rule. If the 6-foot-11 forward didn’t get at least one touch on a possession, his team’s bucket wouldn’t count.

“They did not lose the next couple of scrimmages,” Crean said later. “It was amazing. Cody makes it easier for everyone. Not to be a visionary, but I saw it coming.”

On a more serious note, at an athletic 6’ll”, Zeller could create a mis-match in the paint and The Pack will need to step up inside.

BJD Update: Because I’m lazy, this shall double as your open game thread. See you in the comments, bring the snark brothers and sisters. Hallelujah!!

I genuinely feel like officiating ruined what could have been a great game. IT was a good game, but it could have been great.

  4. Rick 11/30/2011 at 9:44 PM #

Gott about got a T right there

  5. MrPlywood 11/30/2011 at 9:44 PM #

Don’t give up all hope yet.

  7. eas 11/30/2011 at 9:45 PM #

How many double arm flagrant fouls has Wood had now? You really could see it coming.

  8. coach13 11/30/2011 at 9:45 PM #

    Gettem Gott!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Wolf74 11/30/2011 at 9:45 PM #

Flagrant foul on WOOD!!!! and they didn’t call the earlier hack job they did on our player!

They should never allow any those goober headed refs on the NCSU campus ever again!

Zeller he is nothing but a hooking hacker who is benefiting from homer refs!

A lot of time left and we know this team never quits

  11. Rick 11/30/2011 at 9:46 PM #

What a sick block sick block by Calvin

  12. WeAreCured 11/30/2011 at 9:47 PM #

Why oh why does Patrick the Hut keep calling Wood “Woods?” What an ass.

  13. BJD95 11/30/2011 at 9:48 PM #

    Who is Woods?

Damn, shoulda let that dude go on the breakaway. Now he’s fouled out. THAT is the dagger, not the extra point on the intentional foul.

    Good hustle and hard play
They definitely need to learn something from this game.
Hard to be too upset about it.

  15. coach13 11/30/2011 at 9:50 PM #

    No resume’ win tonight
Hey Howell, work on your FT’s

  16. Wufpacker 11/30/2011 at 9:50 PM #

Can’t be too upset. I figure we’re playing with house money this season. But it would be nice to have those FT’s and a few of those point blank layups back.

The scoreboard is not going to show how well State played.

And that was some sorry-ass refereeing. Inconsistent and a couple bad calls. But State should have made their free throws.

    I’m pretty chapped right now.

    We paniced and lost.

  19. WeAreCured 11/30/2011 at 9:51 PM #

Oh well… They’re gonna have to crush it in ACC play to make the big dance this year, but I’m liking what I’m seeing. I don’t think they’ll be able to pull off the upsets against Stanford or ‘Cuse. I’ll be happy with beating both St. Bonaventure and Northeastern and a good ACC season to make the bubble.

  20. eas 11/30/2011 at 9:51 PM #

That will do it. Very good effort though. Please work on FT’s!!!!

  21. TheAliasTroll 11/30/2011 at 9:51 PM #

    well that’s deflating

  22. MrPlywood 11/30/2011 at 9:52 PM #

Not a fan of IN’s celebrations at the end there..

  23. Rick 11/30/2011 at 9:52 PM #

We lost it during that run when Howell missed a layup and then 3 fts.
We had them in trouble and choked

  24. BJD95 11/30/2011 at 9:52 PM #

Not worried about resume stuff. Very proud of the effort, and glad that we might actually take advantage of the “teachable moments” toward the end.

BC loses, it’s 6-2. Soon to be 7-2.

  25. Wufpacker 11/30/2011 at 9:52 PM #

Looks like ACC is gonna go down 7-2 after the early set this evening.
