Pack/Noles Game Thread

My only hope for this game is that nobody else gets hurt. Beating the Holes next week is pretty much the only remaining goal for the season. Plus I know my sports-related good fortune was all used up during Games 6 and 7 of the World Series.

See you sporadically in the comments, I will be in the car for most of the action.

Beating the Holes next week is pretty much the only remaining goal for the season.

It’s one thing to be realistic in expectations, but it’s something else entirely to lower your goals. State is not mathematically eliminated from the Atlantic Division race yet. I realize Clemson probably won’t lose, but we should still have a goal (or at least HOPE) State can win out, and someone else can get a piece of Clemson.

Clemson loses at GT today, and then to State, we would hold the tie-breaker over them (assuming Wake falters once or twice down the stretch).

It’s not expectations. Just hoping for the best until we’re mathematically eliminated. But there are other goals besides beating the Holes, too. Like bowl eligibility. We could still lose to FSU and Clemson, and still make it to a bowl.

We’re getting players back from injury today. Let’s at least see what happens before we throw in the towel. Around 4pm today, we have a better idea where we stand.

Besides, if we don’t have higher goals, why even bother setting the Holes as a goal? If we can’t win 3 of our next 5, we probably can’t beat the Holes, either.

“Beating the Holes next week is pretty much the only remaining goal for the season.”

Does this mean that our goal for the remainder of the season is 1-4?

Maybe some of you would be happy to lose to FSU, BC, Clempson and the Twerps while beating UNC. We should expect to win ALL of our games. But alas, I know that’s just not how Wolfpack Nation perceives the season anymore. We expect to lose.

Rashard Smith (and others) needs to have a good game today. I’m sure that FSU knows about Amerson’s interception ability, and they will probably look to the opposite side of the field.

But, as always, we must win the special teams and turnover battle if we are to win today.

I have a checklist of things I’d like to see:

    -No injuries
    -David Amerson interception
-No drops from TJ Graham (he’ll need to get his yards from the pass, not kicks from their excellent kicker)
-TD passes enough that Glennon keeps his lead in the ACC
    -A win.

I was going to say good pass protection and no sacks but I just watched Glennon get hit with his 18th of the year.

Man, FSU has come out ready-to-play. We look like we’re standing in place.

Do we ever run the ball to the outside?

  7. FireLeeFoulup 10/29/2011 at 11:59 AM #

No, we don’t ever run outside.

  8. Dogbreath 10/29/2011 at 12:00 PM #

Glennon won’t make it to the third quarter today.

So much for a fast start.

I see no reason why anyone would suspect we will even be remotely competitive against Clemson. We never beat the Tigers and this year won’t be any different as they have a ton to play for. We are just roadkill. The line on that game will be 24+.

Could someone explain to my why I am unable to watch the game on ESPNU???

I do not have access with any of the TV providers on the list……so I have to have an account with one of them to watch????? That is f-ed up!!

  11. TheAliasTroll 10/29/2011 at 12:04 PM #

They’re a much more talented team than us. We don’t really have any good players besides our QB.

  12. redcanine 10/29/2011 at 12:06 PM #

Our cover guys are playing so far off the receivers that we aren’t even close enough to make a tackle.

  13. BJD95 10/29/2011 at 12:11 PM #

It really is about time to pull the starters (IMHO). This isn’t going to end well. They are just much, much better than us. Simple as that.

  14. BJD95 10/29/2011 at 12:13 PM #

Mike Glennon should not run under any circumstances today. If he dies, the Holes beat us by 50.

    First down!

  16. El Lobo Loco! 10/29/2011 at 12:19 PM #

We’ll lose anyway, let’s not make it too ugly and let’s kick the holes next week

I’m in Afghanistan. I can’t watch it except on ESPN Gamecast. It doesn’t look pretty on there. I got on here hoping for some hope (redundant?) but it looks like I’d be better served to just go to bed. Anything positive happen for us at all so far?

I guess the extra time used for the measurement (that actually took longer than usual) wasn’t enough to get the play in and we call timeout? Since it’s 1st down it will be a run up the middle for 2, what’s the holdup?

  19. Dogbreath 10/29/2011 at 12:29 PM #

How the fuck does it take five minutes to review that?

  20. Wulfpack 10/29/2011 at 12:32 PM #

    UGLY

  21. TheAliasTroll 10/29/2011 at 12:33 PM #

why do our receivers get scholarships to drop passes?

  22. TheAliasTroll 10/29/2011 at 12:33 PM #

Fugging embarassing is what it is. We’re a doormat.

Somebody asked “How the fuck does it take five minutes to review that?”

They have to go back and review where NC State had the ball, time on the clock, down and distance, etc. SO when it’s over turned they’ve got to get everything else right as well.

Pick-6 coming up. Lord knows we need it.

I have yet to understand TOB’s logic. We go ultra-conservative with a little short pass on 3rd and 14 and then turn around and try a 51 yard FG with a true freshman kicker. I just don’t get it.
