Pack/Bees Open Game Thread

In order to put a positive face on things, I will attempt to list some positive things about this football season:

– Based on our September play, beating the spread will be a much more realistic goal going forward.

– Boston College sucks as bad as we do, if not worse.

– Butch Davis still sheds a tear every time he sees a paleface litter.

– Unlike (every) basketball season, there’s no chance that Duke or the Holes can win the national championship and rub salt in the wound.

– Steven Hauschka, best offensive weapon for the Seattle Seahawks. Dental school will have to wait.

– Friday, bitches.

– My fantasy team is 3-0!! OK, that one probably only works for me. Hey, I’m trying my best, damn it.

– The NCAA just cleared the path for one SEC refugee to join our two deep. If we only can get 10 or 15 more of those, we’ll be set.

– The first appearance of fall weather might have you outside and forgetting that we play today.

– Russell Wilson is finally getting some national media attention and Heisman love.

– Friday, bitches (schadenfreude so nice, I listed it twice).

I will see you later in the comments. Too apathetic and sleepy to liveblog.

Seriously. I don’t understand why we couldn’t play like this earlier, injuries or no injuries.

Brosius appears to be on the Harrison Beck diet plan. Same number and everything.

I’m with BJD95. I think in a decade or so State could be a good program if it’s made a priority, but I doubt that will ever happen. I’d like to just start over with a new staff, like in basketball.

Today’s effort was probably enough to save Archer and TOB. Which is complete BS! We need a coaching change!!!!!!

  5. BJD95 10/01/2011 at 6:22 PM #

Hey that backup FB is having some monster garbage time numbers. Woohoo!!!!

  6. HPWolf 10/01/2011 at 6:23 PM #

Damn, Brosious(is that how you spell it) is good.

  7. BJD95 10/01/2011 at 6:24 PM #

We will do whatever costs the least money. Which will be letting TOB retire after next season like he’s always planned.

Biggest news yesterday: Purvis, PG. Biggest news of today’s game: Purvis, FB.

  9. BJD95 10/01/2011 at 6:25 PM #

Idaho has tied the Wahoos. Ha!!!

  10. itskinseyboo 10/01/2011 at 6:25 PM #

Nice fumble recovery for a TD! Not enough to save us but I’m glad the defense didn’t totally give up.

  11. BJD95 10/01/2011 at 6:27 PM #

Correction – Brosius is good against GT’s backups in a base, quasi-prevent defense.

  12. BJD95 10/01/2011 at 6:28 PM #

I quit watching, what happened? We beat the spread for anyone who got money in when the line was 10.5. LOL

  13. Wolf74 10/01/2011 at 6:28 PM #

When you score 35 point you would think you would be in the game at the end. But no because you give up 45 and GT hasn’t even tried the last couple of possessions. If TOB is back next year, Archer has to go. He is just plain bad.

  14. itskinseyboo 10/01/2011 at 6:29 PM #

A successful onside kick? Nope. Womp womp.

  15. BJD95 10/01/2011 at 6:30 PM #

Great onside kick except for the two penalties.

  16. BJD95 10/01/2011 at 6:31 PM #

We are the official university of “womp womp.” And the sad trombone.

  17. WeAreCured 10/01/2011 at 6:32 PM #

It was nice sharing some laughs. Have a great evening everyone.

I enjoyed the commenting with you good people. Thanks for the company!

It doesn’t matter if the defense of GT is second string or not, Brosius has an accurate arm and some zip on his throws. He also does not appear to have happy feet in the pocket. That bodes well for the future.

    There is always next year.

  21. wolfpacker 10/01/2011 at 6:50 PM #

ONCE AGAIN, WE SPOT OUR OPPONENT 21 POINTS, WTF?

    ARCHER HAS TO GO TOMORROW!!!!!

YOW MUST MAKE A STATEMENT, ARCHER HAS TO GO!!!

It’s not going to get any better, this guy is a complete joke! Hire someone who at the very least has a history of being a decent DC. With this guys stats, THERE IS NOT A TEAM IN THE COUNTRY THAT WOULD HIRE HIM. NC STATE trusted TOB and THIS WAS A HUGE mistake and the fact that he has kept him on staff just shows how little he cares about the direction of the program. If he cared about the direction of the program, he would have NEVER, EVER HIRED ARCHER…he’s proven to be one of the worst DCs in the country for about 8 years now.

Archer is constantly blaming everything but the real problem, because he’s the problem. He’s NEVER, BEEN GOOD AT HIS JOB.

EVERYONE needs to send Debby an email with his stats from Kentucky and she needs to walk into TOB’s office and demand an explanation on HOW HE WAS EVER HIRED! The stats from Kentucky are the same as we now are witnessing, a pathetic attempt and it’s not because of injuries, its because the coaching staff is horrible! Then she needs to find out who was behind hiding his stats and the truth as they used to appear on wikipedia. That cover up was unx style and it’s time to expose that lie.

  22. wolfpackdawg 10/01/2011 at 7:13 PM #

The sad thing is TOB will b here another year. I don’ t care what the geritol set says on here. Oh…. How bout them Gamecocks!!!!! Garcia has played awesome this year!

  23. JSRy2k 10/01/2011 at 7:17 PM #

@wolfpacker: The other side of spotting our opponent a 21-0 lead is the offense’s failure to put a single point on the board for roughly the first 25 minutes. Miserable starts on that side of the ball in all 3 FBS games.

  24. JSRy2k 10/01/2011 at 7:29 PM #

    @TOB-must-go crowd:
While I agree that TOB’s on-field results have been sub-par at best, I don’t think a knee-jerk reaction firing is wise. Unlike the replacement of Sidney Lowe where most any other coach would be an upgrade on paper, such is not the case with TOB. I think DY needs to KNOW she has a quality replacement on the line before she decides to pull the plug on this staff. We may be bad right now, but we’d really be screwed if we got caught scrambling to bring in anybody who’s used a headset and clipboard before.

  25. Wulfpack 10/01/2011 at 7:35 PM #

It’s all about timing. If DY thinks TOB is the guy long term, so be it. Something tells me that’s not the case. He has 1 more year on his contract. I seriously doubt it goes beyond that timeframe. He looks pretty well checked out to me, and these results aren’t pretty.
