Open College Football Entry – State 28-10 to start 4th Qtr

We wanted to open a college football discussion entry for everyone sitting around today on a cold and rainy Saturday.

It is currently 3:54 and…

…Clemson defeated the defending National Champion from the SEC by 14.

…Georgia Tech defeated a team from the Big 12 by 50.

…Maryland fell short in a comeback bid against West Virginia.

…Butch Davis is attending his second consecutive UNC football game as a spectator…and, UNC is not unhappy about it because if he wasn’t there Kenan Stadium might not have any fans.

…DUKE WINS!!! at Boston College. Wow…I could not love this more! Congrats to Cutcliffe. Couldn’t love it more for BC.

And Duke beats BC and Vandy beats Ole Miss.

  2. jpack 09/17/2011 at 3:40 PM #

TOB could possibly get the band back together next year if this keeps up.

Carolina scores and now leads UVA 7-3.

The dozen fans in Kenan seem excited.

UNC now up 14-3. I was watching Tennesee/Florida but it is unwatchable. Bad slate of 3:30 games.

Help! I’m in Southern Chile and all my old sites don’t work…Does anybody have a way to stream down here? ESPN3 and MYP2P do not work. Thanks!!

BC is horrible. We lose to them this year up there, and TOB should resign on the spot. They missed like a 20 yard field goal with 30 seconds left that would have won it.

    GA Tech-KU recap quote:
“Complet(ely) befuddling the Jayhawks with fakes, pitches and guys running in all different directions…”

Gee, I hope GA Tech doesn’t have guys running in all different directions against us, we could be in trouble! Against KU, Tech averaged 12.1 ypc and had 6 different ballcariers score TDs.

It looks like Tom Hammonds is leaking embalming fluid.

Yikes, Cinci had 49 points at the half. Should be an interesting game Thursday.

Anyone else catch the entire UNC team along the sideline COME OUT ONTO THE FIELD, lean over the UVA receiver who was tackled (it was a monster tackle, to be sure) and yell at him and jump around over him? Can someone explain to me why they did not call unsportsman like conduct for taunting and penalize them 15 yards? Thanks in advance.

  10. the reality 09/17/2011 at 5:12 PM #

^ They did taunt, but of course, everybody automatically knows they didn’t mean to taunt, that’s why. Everything has always been open to interpretation over there.

I will say this. I couldn’t be more impressed by Virginia today for overcoming the adversity of having to play against a professional defense. I’m impressed with them for hanging in there against a team that breaks the rules that give them a substantial edge in talent, and if they lose, for sacrificing a conference loss to a team who doesn’t care who they affect by egregiously breaking the rules.

They didn’t know they were taunting!!! The Carolina Way!!!

too many “umbles”…we keep dropping the “f”ing ball.

it looks like Coach O’Brien dropped an “F” too…

Ok, we will be lucky to win 4 games this year the way this defense has been playing. Bend and barely break policy is pissing me off. I noticed that most of the time that State blitzes they just bring 1 extra. Coverage has been iffy. Missed a sack and a few tackles, 1 or 2 ob USA’s long run, cause they didn’t wrap up, but pushed.

If these damned RBs can’t hold on to the ball, then give it to Gentry and let him rush it up the middle.

Glad to see Clemson beat Auburn. Too bad MD lost to WVU.

  16. sundropdrinker13 09/17/2011 at 6:37 PM #

That Oline NEEDS TO BLOCK!!! They are allowing WAY too many guys free run at MG.

  17. redcanine 09/17/2011 at 6:42 PM #

Are our defenders trying to tickle them to death? Jeez.

  18. itskinseyboo 09/17/2011 at 6:43 PM #

    INTERCEPTION!! Thank you Amerson!

  19. Gene 09/17/2011 at 6:48 PM #

A half-way competent D-1A school would’ve burned us for a touch down, instead of badly underthrowing the ball that Amerson intercepted.

Just totally disappointed with this performance. It doesn’t give me a good feeling about the rest of the year.

Look at how evenly matched at a physical we are against level against soal, and how discombobulated we are on both sides of the ball, I think anything more than 5 and 7 with this team is a blessing!

  21. TheAliasTroll 09/17/2011 at 6:54 PM #

We are flat (again) and this is boring. I will cease watching this game once the FSU/Oklahoma game comes on.

  22. Wulfpack 09/17/2011 at 6:59 PM #

We’re in for a bad year. 3 times out, 3 bad performances. It ain’t going to get any easier.

  23. eas 09/17/2011 at 7:00 PM #

I hate this isn’t on satellite but it sounds like it is turning in to another egg being laid. What the h$$$? Is the D really playing bad against the Alabama “powerhouse”?

  24. coach13 09/17/2011 at 7:03 PM #

    pitiful

  25. Tuffy2 09/17/2011 at 7:04 PM #

I am getting real tired of this. ESPN girl at halftime ask TOB how he felt the game was going and he answers that the offense is doing fine.

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME COACH?
