Of the 8 categories that make up offense and defense, we have an average ranking of 9.375. If average is 6, we’re well below average. I have no idea if computing it that way makes any sense or not, since I hate math. But if the number says below average, and it does, then it correlates well to what I observe on the field.

Anyway, that’s my once in a lifetime attempt at statistical analysis. 😉

I know alot of the blame for the poor start has been blamed on the injuries on defense. The stats appear to lead one to believe that the poor start can be attributed to both offense and defense.

I noticed the same, Khan –

Below average in every meaningful category, and absolutely verified by observation !

Saturday will be quick and painless, I’m afraid. Getting more and more numb week by week.

The stats suggest to me what I see with my own eyes — that our best performing unit is our special teams.

I don’t understand where these numbers come from:
    Future Opposition: 11-13 (.458) ACC Rank: 10, Nat’l Rank: 73
    Past Opposition: 1-2 (.333) ACC Rank: 9, Nat’l Rank: 87

WV: Will you please enlighten me?

WV Wolf: I’ve been using the stats that don’t include 1-AA teams. Past opposition is the records of teams we’ve already played not including games against State. So Wake lost to Cuse and Cincy beat Akron and lost to Tennessee for a total of 1-2. Future opposition are the records of the teams we haven’t played yet.

The problem at NC State has been that WHEN we have had our best players on the field / team (to name just a few: Rivers, Irving, Wilson), the coaching staff has taken the credit for doing the job. They claimed they were ‘well coached’. H#ll, the COACHING STAFF held Wilson BACK, talk about incompetence!

Now they can’t hide the issues and they don’t want to take the blame either. Just blame it on everything but what the problem is, the COACHING STAFF SUCKS! TOB picked a SURE LOSER with Archer, ask Kentucky why they demoted him. The S & C coach must be a joke as well, wonder where he came from.

We never go on the field and take control of the game from kick-off. We wait until we are down by at least 14 points before we even attempt to do anything.

wolfpacker, head of nail meet hammer.

If the coaching staff (mainly TOB) would take some of the blame, I think people would at least respect that.

I got stung right in the side of the kneecap by a yellow jacket in the tobacco field this morning and now I am injured. A sign of things to come, no doubt.

What’s really interesting is that you used to be able to see the stats for all of Archer’s teams on wikipedia. Now, it only shows his HC stats. If TOB would have looked there before he hired Archer (they used to be available, someone complained it was too easy to see this guy was no good, so they must have removed them) he would have at the very least been able to ask the questions like:

SO, HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DO IT DIFFERENTLY AT NC STATE?

We surely don’t want to give up over 30+ points per game on average.

We certainly don’t want to have one of the WORST defenses in the country.

And, I hope that we can find a way to keep the average team to less than 350+ yds / game.

His response was probably … well, we’ve had injuries galore. And if it happens here, we’ll just blame it on the injuries and we can also tell the fans that what we are trying to do is too difficult, they’ll buy that – FOR A WHILE!

This is what Mike Archer is known for…he doesn’t belong in the DC job, never should have been hired, ever. TOB needs to WAKE UP! There is NO DOUBT that we would have had much better performance if we had hired just about ‘anyone’ else. Archer has been defending his weak defense ever since he got here and that’s not going to stop today, tomorrow, this weekend, next week, and not even next year…UNLESS TOB demotes or just gets rid of the guy. It’s time to GIVE UP on the EXCUSES and let the guy move on, we are tired of him ruining our Saturday afternoons!

The only numbers needed to show where this program is are the numbers 28 to 49 and 2 of 6. Those represent the final score of the 2009 Duke home game and our record against Wake Forest in our last six meetings. The three wins we had against these league doormats during this time could’ve easily been losses.

Cincinnati beat the snot out of us last week. 44-14 can’t even describe the totality of this butt-kicking.

Please, no more excuses. I want names- names of available coaches out there, PASSIONATE coaches who’d come in here mad at the world and take it out on every scheduled opponent. A take-no-prisoners, kick-ass mentality coach with a like-minded staff, who’d give Wolfpack Nation something it hasn’t had since Coach Sheridan departed- h o p e.

If you still have tobacco in the field on Sept 28th then you have more problems than a yellow jacket stinging you on the leg.

Folks let me advise you on something if you have not wised up already: FORGET ABOUT IT!!!

Don’t let this pack (pun intended) of yahoos get you down. Worried about the game, worried about looking bad because your team gets beat……………to hell with all that.

Now look at me. I’m 41, fit, president of the Bowersville Optimist Club and I read extensively from various journals most of which would be table reading at the Nuremberg rallies. My blood pressure is excellence, my fiber intake is off the charts, I run 3 miles per day and I box 2 nights per week. I’m currently finishing a piece on Dadaism and how the American South was the most undimmed by that influence. I eat wild huckleberries, pen mighty poems about clandestine efforts to stop the use of Minute Rice, and I never use roll on deodorants.

Do I worry about State football?

No sir. These simple rules, actually just one rule, have helped me greatly in the last 10 years to over come the wear and tear of bad coaching and poor effort.

    Let it go boys.

*I’d also like to say that Bane from ACCBoards is a first class arse.

These are the only stats that I need:

0-11 vs. our division on the road.

4-17 vs. our division in 4+ years. All this with Russell Wilson and Nate Irving.

P.S. We no longer have Russell Wilson or Nate Irving.

  12. wolfpacker 09/28/2011 at 11:39 PM #

Yow needs to ask TOB how in the H#ll Archer got the DC job at NC State! I really hope she sits him down soon and brings up Archer’s stats prior to his arrival at NC State and looks TOB straight in the eyes and says:

“You seriously thought it would get better than this?”
“Why would you hire someone with such a bad resume?”
“Do you really think the NC STATE FANBASE was not going to realize this was a horrible hire?”
“Do you realize that when the truth comes out, you will look really bad and no one will trust your judgment? ”

They are already doubting your abilities, you can’t even do what you said you could do. Are you running for Office next election, because StateFansNations/ Wolfpack Nation isn’t buying your crap anymore. Stop the excuses and have your team ready or get out of town.

Did TOB check the stats from Mike Archer’s previous team? (This should have been a requirement, but TOB wanted the job so bad we took his word). He couldn’t have, no way in the world would he want to bring this guy on board. How did he pass anyone’s test? Did anybody do their homework on this guy? NO

This looks as bad as unx going before the NCAA without proofreading McAdoo’s paper! If TOB didn’t review Archer’s previous coaching stats, he is totally responsible for being so irresponsible and he should pay the price if he doesn’t correct the problem SOON! What’s WORSE? TOB reviewed them and thought they were acceptable. That my friends is what might be the problem. It’s much less than mediocre, it’s pathetic.

Once again a head coach has been a mere politician promising magic that he could not produce. Last time it was the head coach’s ego that got in the way, this time it has been his imprudence for hiring a DC whose teams have put up poor stats as Mike Archer’s teams have. It’s not changing until a change is made, it’s that simple.

^McCallum: that’s really good advice, from someone who sounds very well grounded. Wish I could do it.
