Mario Williams injured

Texans linebacker Mario Williams injured his right knee during the third quarter of Sunday’s 40-33 loss to the New Orleans Saints, but he told the Houston Chronicle after the game that he doesn’t believe the injury to be very serious.

“The biggest thing is you don’t want it to tighten up on you, and I was trying to keep it loose,” Williams told the Chronicle. “We have to figure it out tomorrow once we go in and get a better look.

“There is nothing I can really say about it until then.”

The extent of the injury won’t be known until further tests are conducted Monday, according to the report.

Williams, who finished with one tackle and one quarterback pressure, went down late during the third quarter when teammate Antonio Smith was knocked into his leg by Saints guard Charles Brown. Williams was able to limp off the field and was seen intermittently riding a stationary bike on the sidelines after sustaining the injury. Williams played on and off in the fourth quarter, however, and was spelled often by backup Brooks Reed.

I guess Charles “Charlie” Brown is paying others back for Lucy’s yanking the ball before Charlie’s kick. Damn you, Lucy!!

Kubiak said at his presser yesterday that Mario’s injury isn’t serious. They expect him to play on Sunday.

The 3-4 is working ok so far for the Texans and Mario. He had two sacks in week one. In week two he grabbed Chad Henne’s arm in the middle of a throw and forced a wounded duck that set the Texans up at the six for an easy TD. They didn’t pressure Brees very well this past Sunday and that hurt them badly.

If you just want to see how Mario does you can always DVR the shortcuts that start on Tuesday IIRC.

    wolfonthehill,
Look up those players at the NFL, Yahoo sports or some other site that allows you to check individual stats and you’ll be able to get some info.

Tulloch had 7 tackles last week, 14 on the season. Interesting fact on these is that they’re all solo tackles. For a reference point, Ray Lewis has 25 total and 22 solos.

Lawson (now with the Bengals sad to say) had 4 tackles (1 solo) and has 7 total on the season.

If Irving has seen the field he hasn’t tallied a stat yet, but don’t know if he’s injured or not.

Adrian Wilson has tallied 14 tackles (10 solo) and 1 int.

McCargo (Bucs) hasn’t seen the field yet. Nor has Tank Tyler (Bears).

Don’t think Andre Brown is in the league currently. Toney Baker is with the Broncos but I don’t think he’s seeing any PT.

Mario has 2 sacks on the year. Ware leads the league right now with 5.
