ACCASJ: ACC Power Rankings

6. N.C. State (1-0)
New QB Mike Glennon (18 of 31, 156 passing yards, 1 TD, 0 INT) didn’t exactly carve up the Liberty defense in his debut, but the Wolfpack pulled away after a shaky start for a 43-21 win. Liberty actually outgained NC State (406 to 318), but the Wolfpack forced a school-record seven turnovers. A road trip to Wake Forest on Saturday will give us a better read on Tom O’Brien’s squad.
Upcoming Game: Saturday at Wake Forest (0-1)
Previous Ranking: No. 7

11. Wake Forest (0-1)
The Deacs were headed for a big road win until QB Tanner Price left the game with a knee injury. They then proceeded to lose a 15-point lead and went on to fall in overtime at Syracuse. Price looked much improved over last year, throwing for 289 yards and three scores, so getting him back healthy is going to be pivotal. Upcoming Game: Saturday vs N.C. State
Previous Ranking: No. 12

About what you would expect. We didn’t impress, but we showed signs of improvement over the course of the game and will know a lot more after this weekend.

At this point middle of the conference is reasonable. Agreed we will know more after Sat.

given our performance and what else i saw from around the ACC this weekend.. 6th is about where i’d peg us.. i wasn’t really impressed with any team this weekend other than the media favorites fsu and vt.. but that doesn’t suprise me. is it me or does TOB’s teams get off to a slow start regardless??

IMO u will be able to tell alot from this next one. We don’t win there, regardless of who is qb…not often anyway. 3 things u can count on…Duke and WF always give us a fit regardless of how good or bad they are, and the opposite of what u expect happens in the UNX matchup.

This may…may…be the hardest matchup in the 1st 7 games.

it very well could be the hardest matchup?? you really never know with some of our acc foes. i don’t understand it but it is what it is. i think traveling to cincy will also be a good test for the team. at a glance our schedule may appear to be somewhat a cupcake variety, but as we get closer to the matchups they each present some different challenges.

Hilarious that Heather Dinich picked UNC third in her power rankings. They are becoming like Notre Dame in the national rankings. They are the highest ranked team with the lowest actual accomplishment.

6th is where I’d peg us too, except 6th in the Atlantic Division, especially if we lose Saturday.

We are right where we should be. Interesting to see Maryland at #3. I think the Terps could be really good this year. O’Brien is the real deal at QB.

I will hold my predictions on our finish, after our contest @ WF. Call me crazy, but I think we can win, but we shall see. I will, however, be there for the game supporting the team.

I finally got around to watching the DVR of our game last night. If we are really 6th after laying that turd on Saturday…then the ACC is in even sadder shape than I thought.

If O’ brian keeps improving at QB then Maryland may be in the Orange bowl this year. Or maybe its finally States year to keep them out of the championship game.

After the first weekend, it appears that we have three teams that have a shot of being in the ACC title game.
    1) VT
    2) FSU
    3) MD

Most of the league is a jumbled mess in the middle. State, UNC, Clemson, GT, Miami and Virginia will beat up on one another. Each could beat the other depending on the day, location, conditions and luck. It’s hard to pick 4-9 out of that group at this point. All are flawed in some critical ways.

Of the teams that I picked prior to the season to be at the bottom (BC, Wake, Duke), only Wake showed me real signs of improvement. We’re in for a struggle this weekend.

Still can’t see all the love for the Twerps – the unis must be leaving people blind – 32-24 over Miami with all of the crap over their heads, new coach, eight players suspended (including Harris) even at HOME even would make me scratch my head more than us. Also, Miami had a fumble returned by the Twerps for TD in final minute. O’Brien is the real deal, but still do not see it.
