So…ESPN has this video where some guy named Christian Fauria picks his top five teams in the ACC for 2011. You can see the 4 minute and 45 second video by clicking here.
I just watched the video and found Fauria’s comments to be ‘interesting’ in light of the fact that he is supposed to be discussing the 2011 season…yet, almost every observation he shares with viewers are is related to something in the past and has no relevance to the 2011 season. “Fauria’s” choices are summarized below because (paraphrased) ‘these are the teams with the best chance of going to a bowl’.
Really? UNC, who is getting ready to be hammered by the NCAA has the greatest chance of going to a bowl? Why not put Miami in here? You can’t say because of the NCAA issues because you put UNC in here.
(5) Boston College – Every year BC finds a way to win games. (Even though last year they barely broke .500 and NC State beat them by ~30 points). Wow. That is insightful.
(4) North Carolina – “Fauria” seems to really love his “Carolina Blue”. He has a lot of good things to say about Butch Davis…but, Butch Davis doesn’t coach at UNC anymore. He seems to be really impressed with how TJ Yates and his teammates handled adversity last year. But, TJ Yates and more than 20 of his teammates from last year are no longer on the team. Let’s see — UNC has a weaker defense than last year’s 7-5 regular season squad and they are starting a new quarterback instead of TJ Yates. Makes total sense!
(3) Maryland – Talks about firing Ralph Friedgen. Then says they are going to have a hard time on defense. Well, that sounds like a great plan for success!! Who wouldn’t put a team with a weak defense and a new coach in the #3 slot? At least he referenced Danny O’Brien…a player that actually will take the field in 2011.
(2) Virginia Tech – consistent in the past. Really? You don’t say?
(1) Florida State – wait a second…Fauria FINALLY actually discusses CURRENT players on talks about the players that are actually on
