How do you do Ms. Wiley?

Folks, I have no idea what any of this means, but the N & O’s J.P. Giglio is tweeting up a storm as if something is afoot within tutorgate:

While we’re on Wiley’s academic credentials, the Durham County school system might want to take a second look at that resume

And why did McAdoo think WIley was viable option for academic help? Because after she was fired by the school, she was hired by Davis

At the crux of the McAdoo cheating saga, and what is being overlooked, is the employment status of Jennifer Wiley

Meanwhile, Mark Armstrong continues to extend a Twitter olive branch to Marvin, trying to get an interview:

PPack3 hit the nail on the head and into the coffin.

Why would Butch Davis hire this tutor who:

A: Was fired by the university
B: Was not even qualified for the job
C: To tutor his son, only to find out later that she was still tutoring athletes

Money changed hands. But the problem is butch will say that he pay J. Wiley for tutoring his son. I for one would like to look at those payments, if they are $1,000+ checks, some matching parking ticket fine amounts and dates, then there is your smoking gun.

I believe it means they are up “Kelsey’s Crick” without a paddle!!!

And tann84, what are the odds, if Butch didn’t know this was going on with the tutor, that SHE just happened to be the one he chose (presumably at random).

It’s not enough for a conviction in a capital murder-one trial, but it sure is enough smoke to win in a civil case.

“Truth” speaks the truth. Just about anyone can add 1+1.

Many people in Chapel Hill know that she is/was dating one of the players involved in the UNC scandal. I’m pretty sure it is/was Greg Little. Talk about “improper benefits”!

    Listen to McCallum.

The tutor is already the banished one, I would guess. But it may be more self-induced. Hopefully she realizes the folly of letting herself get thrown under the bus to protect the higher-ups (BOT,especially). Marvin might be able to help her think more clearly.

She may be gladly playing the martyr role because of her love for her “elite institution” and it’s reputation. Maybe when she gets tired of being portrayed as the root cause, she’ll say “enough” and start singing.

Lawful or someone else, unless she leaves the State of NC, can’t the NCAA compel her testimony in order to defend the McAdoo complaint? in other words get a civil subpoena for her testimony or deposition?

  9. ppack3 07/19/2011 at 11:17 AM #

Interestingly enough, I have heard several media people say that the NCAA doesn’t necessarily need proof to believe that a violation has occurred. In other words, if Butch paid the tutor, and the tutor paid the players, the NCAA doesn’t need a ‘money trail.’ They aren’t the government. They don’t have the burden of proof. If there is sufficient evidence, they can call it a violation.

These people’s wording was something like, “It’s not what the NCAA can prove, it’s what they believe to be true.”

I would love to know the validity of that point.

We know Wiley took the money from Davis. We know that Wiley paid for some things for at least one player (plane ticket and parking ticket). Does the NCAA need a check from Butch in the exact amounts of these costs, in order to apply the infamous transitive property, in this case?

Last point. Wiley will lose her job if she is deemed unqualified and/or to have lied on her resume. There aren’t a lot of ways to lose a State job, but that’s one of them. So, at that point, she would have lost the job that UNC set her up with, presumably to keep her quiet about her role. Would she then get slush fund checks for the same purpose? Is the slush account still active, even? Does she have anything else to lose if UNC can’t give her something else to keep her lips pursed?

All these questions, and more, will be answered…As the Stomach Turns…Bah, bah, bum.

This summer is almost as interesting as last summer!

Packhammer, that’s a point that crossed my mind, too, as she was specifically named in the Injunction Trial. Not only was she named, but she was referenced several times and it seemed as if the NCAA was certainly knowledgeable about her role in the McAdoodle case. I’m sure they would love to be able to subpena her about anything, if they could. I trust that the lawyers would know if they could.

That’s what is going to make it interesting. If McAdoodle continues to pursue this case, the NCAA lawyers may just be able to get her into a courtroom. I think that would be the worst thing that could happen to UNC.

I’ve never been fond of the” you know me” statement. It’s a redflag clause in my book. It’s akin to “have a blessed day,” “money isn’t a problem,” and “I have black friends.” It just never seems to mean anything good afterthefact.

These guys ought to be spending their time going after 216 than tweeting what should have been in articles 6 or 12 months ago.

  12. lawful 07/20/2011 at 9:49 AM #

Hammer, I don’t think she can be compelled to talk in a civil action. That’s what you would be looking at if the ncaa were involved. A criminal action would be another matter.
