High school football recruits should take notice; Marvin tweets the truth

After yesterday’s court decision that will cause UNC football player Michael McAdoo to officially miss next season, everyone’s favorite Tar Heel, Marvin “Anchorman” Austin, hit the twittersphere last night.

During this scandal recruits considering UNC have relayed messages that the UNC staff didn’t(still doesn’t?) feel any sanctions against the program would be severe. The message floating out of Chapel Hill has gone from it only involving 1 or 2 players and it being over before last season’s opening game, to issues with players but the program not facing sanctions because UNC had never received a Notice of Allegations, to most recently a recruit out of Georgia mentioning the possibility of a post-season ban for UNC-Rogue.

Consistently, the message coming from the UNC side of this story has been way, way off in terms of the reality and the magnitude of the scandal. Essentially, if the information is coming from a UNC source, then multiply the magnitude by 10 and you will be closer to the truth.

Meanwhile, Butch has continued to convince kids to roll the dice and commit to spend their college years in Chapel Hill playing for a program whose future couldn’t be anymore uncertain. If these kids won’t listen to recruiters from rivals, then maybe they will listen to the “Anchorman” himself about the real “Carolina Way”:

I swear it is simply disheartning that the peolpe our parents put there trust in to protect us really only care about there gain solely

I’m so heated right now…justice will provail..even if I have to spill the beans

This is so frustrating right now..I can’t rap my head around it..I wish I could understand but maybe its not logical enough to understand

Twitter I’m not bitter I just don’t like the way my friend, teammate, brother was mislead, misued, and ostrisized from the program for the same reasons that others got suspened and are able to play for because I know exactly the details in each case and its noway that this young man should have his dream snatched from him like the #ncaa has done.I can tell you so many stories that would be mind boggling in comparison

anchormanaustin marvin austin
Trust me I know….I love my school..I chose to come here when nobody thought it was smart to do..but I just wish the administration stood and stop the cowardly acts when the are in front of the ncaa just tell them what you told us…don’t turn and twist your story to look appealing to the Ncaa and presure the 21 year old athlete to say and do things that aren’t in there best interest…its so much that’s not said it stings when I think about it Unc true fans understand how we as players love this place it tatted in blood for most guys on the team.

So which high school football player wants to be the next rogue (UNC’s defense for not monitoring and providing proper guidance to their players, not our opinion of you Marvin) UNC football player?

Changing the subject slightly but very interesting. Georgia Tech just got hit with 4 years probation and stripped of the 2009 title and 3 wins vacated.

The football violations were $312 in benefits to one player for accepting clothing. Not “that bad” but pretty hard hit. Imagine 9 MAJOR violations and considerably more players involved.

“I can tell you so many stories that would be mind boggling in comparison” – M Austin

In other words, the cheating was widespread and far worse.

can we go ahead and vacate UNC’s basketball NCs already? talk about a slow burn…

so there you have it folks. Not only do their players get paid, but they don’t even do their own schoolwork. Think that gave them a leg up on recruiting high school kids? what a sham

The lies told to high school coaches and players cannot be overstated. The players think they are using UNC-ch to get to the NFL. A few will make it, but the vast majority spend 4+ years there, don’t make the league, and exit with no education and a diploma not worth the paper it is written on. Academic fraud run wild. A player would be wise to go almost anywhere else.

I think it’s official: Our man Marv is the Wolf in Sheep’s clothing.

How else does one explain this abundance of gifts that he leaves at our doorstep?

Who knew that when Marvin arrove at unx he would be that wolf? Who knew???

  6. SuperStuff 07/14/2011 at 8:29 PM #

Let’s face it these players knew when they committed to UNC-CH it was going to be easy street in the classroom. Status Quo… Problem is you really want a player that wants to work hard for his degree not coast through school.

The thing that I don’t understand is how Austin tweets about his deep love for the university. It’s tatted in his blood after all. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t he lie and cheat, get kicked off of the team and is now virtually ignored by the UNX community? Judging by his tweets, I doubt he graduated either. What a fat turd that needs to be flushed down the toilet of humanity.

Shush, Wolfman. He’s certainly showing lots of deep love for his university – AND WE WANT HIM TO KEEP IT UP!

Don’t say anything to discourage him. He might be reading this. He says he has some beans to spill. I suspect he’s correct about that, and we shouldn’t question his love for his skool.

SuperStuff, given what the McAdoo issue has exposed, can you imagine the recruiting pitch these UNC players heard when they were preps?

Blake and/or Davis: “oh – don’t worry about schoolwork. They give all A’s and B’s to EVERYBODY, including ball players like you!!”

5* recruit who barely scrapes by in high school: “Alright!! I hate tests and writing papers. I took the easiest classes i could, but my teachers are meanies.”

Blake and/or Davis: “Well, you’ll show THEM! You’ll be a genuine student athlete in Chapel Hill. Trust us on this one.”

did it every occur to anyone that perhaps Marvin is upset b/c the plagiarism was done by the tutor and not McAdoo? Maybe that’s what he means by “spilling the beans”… he’s upset that they were given an incompetent tutor!
