That’s harsh, HPWolf. It’s a nice location, it’s just the occupants who are bad. I suggest neutron bombing.””

    are you serious?

chapel hill happens to be the biggest cluster **** in central NC! the road layout is awful, the roads themselves are riddled with pot holes and tarholes galore.. the zoning is absolute garbage.. about all they’ve gotten right is not leveling every forest area in and around chapel hill. even durham has a leg up and is pissing on that place.. south point is so close to ch hill that they claim it.

chapel hill = the myrtle beach of NC in my eyes 😉

i just know i’m not going to get my wish.. but if unc does not get away with this.. i will be airing one of mc hammer’s versions of “hammer time” on facebook all week… sending/inviting or whatever. ..but, i kind of get the feeling that this will all be over by friday?! 😉

Back in the mid eighties when we were given 3 years probation, no post season and a loss of scholarships, The UNC Board of Governors were so upset about the black eye we gave the UNC System, They gave us two years of no off campus recruiting. Poor Les Robinson never had a chance. Now we see BOG’s out speaking on behalf of Butch. This will be interesting to watch.

  4. Hungwolf 06/04/2011 at 7:09 PM #

Good Point duggie! Has always hurt to see those that bad mouth Les Robinson considering he took a job no one else wanted because of the severe limitations he operated under. I never met anyone that loved NCSU more than Les Robinson.

As far as UNC-Cheat, no matter what happens they come out with a blacK eye and their “we do things the right way and win attitude” has been exposed as a fraud and proven false. They are now the Clemson of the ACC!

I do not feel we atre finished though, those assistant coached didn’t hire attorneys for no reason, they clearly distrust the administration. Major violations give UNC-Cheat the grounds to fire Butch. And the results of the lawsuit involving parking tickets and such is yet to hit the royal blow this thing wide open phase in the media. This is only going to get better. The long time the NCAA has taken tells me they wanted to get their ducks in a row first!

If the entrenched privileged ruling elite of Chapel Hill get off with just a slap on the wrist, remember i told you so.
An agent on the payroll, tutors writing term papers, players catching flights to extravagant agent-sponsored parties with chicks, booze, bling, etc… soooooo what?? Car dealers providing top jocks with hot wheels, blah, blah, blah….
The “upper crust of Chapel Hill” avoided committing the WORST violations – such as selling sneakers, flunking (easier to do if tutors aren’t doing the work for you), or your coach asking the prof to raise your grade (again, easier if the tutor is “taking care of matters”).
It pays to have people in high places (e.g. the ACC commis, “agents” working for ESPN, SI, ABC, FOX, etc…. ).
But there must be someplace to throw rotten eggs at some NCAA building, ACC conference office, etc… if this slap on the wrist is all that transpires from one of the worst cases of LOIC to ever surface in the history of the NCAA (despite the “know nothing” excuses presented time after time after time in chapel hill).

Did a UNC person write the lyrics for the song on that video? Completely unoriginal, kind of like college football cheating in the south.

The “I knew nothing” defense is actually an indication that they systems in place were not working and provide even more evidence that the institution was not in control. From the top down, they are total losers. They knew what they ‘wanted’ to accomplish. Bring a bunch of thugs on campus, give them a degree, cars, cash, and become a powerhouse in football (what a joke and they failed). These kids were not here for the education. I honestly can’t believe that they could all make the grades. This has been going on forever in cheaters hill.

There is absolutely no leadership and with the records still not being released it’s obvious that the university is hiding something. I hope that the reputation of the university is tarnished, they deserve it. This university is a total disgrace to any taxpaying resident in the state.

The NCAA has made it clear that the benefits of cheating outweigh the costs. Why aren’t we???

NCAA hasn’t ruled yet. However, if they do – and UNC doesn’t get LOIC, post season bans and significant scholarship limitations, the NCAA is sending a horrid message.

Unfortunately, with one notable exception, they’ve been sending that message for the last several years. Like I said, read the NCAA report on UConn – UConn lost a couple of scholarships – and that’s about it. This year they won a national championship.

Right now, I’m assuming unless you totally piss off the investigative staff – you’ll walk. Between tOSU, UT and UNC – they have a chance to send a strong message. I’ll be utterly shocked if they send it.

Of course, when you’ve got the national and local media and the policitcal power structure for you state and conference in your pocket like the Heels do – this is what happens.

‘Of course, when you’ve got the national and local media and the policitcal power structure for you state and conference in your pocket like the Heels do – this is what happens.’

And *that*, my friends, is how you build up a university: com/journalism and lawyers. Engineers? bah. 2nd best, and that’s for losers.

  11. JeremyH 06/05/2011 at 5:35 PM #

oh and SFN, I hate you for showing me that video : )

    GREAT post by phillypacker.

And THIS is the version of Friday that should have been posted…

  13. newt 06/05/2011 at 8:59 PM #

If UNC doesn’t get LOIC, expect all the media who have been on the NCAA’s back for the last couple of years about their rulings to suddenly say “They got it right” and “Why can’t y’all just accept the NCAA’s ruling?”

  14. TruthBKnown Returns 06/05/2011 at 10:31 PM #

Well, if this prediction turns out to be correct, and they don’t get LOIC, nor do they get any postseason bans, the question I have is, is Butch’s job in jeopardy at all? I mean, if they end up on probation, lose some schollies, etc., and obviously, they have a black eye, then does Butch walk the plank?

Some say they hope Butch never leaves (presumably because TOB is 4-0 against him since they’ve been in our fine state, and because no one does less with more than Butch…) But I’m not one of those people. I don’t want him to survive this for a couple of reasons… (1) This MESS happened on his watch, and (2) Because his recruiting has been great and eventually it WILL pay off. I feel like a Mack Brown period is coming if he’s allowed to stay. And if he survives this, that shows he is nearly bulletproof. And Carolina players can commit murder and everything will be alright. How great of a recruiting tool is THAT? “Guys, no problem. At UNX, we can cheat and break every rule in the NCAA handbook, but that doesn’t matter! You’ll skate if you do anything wrong! And btw, here are the keys to a brand new pimped out ride! And marijuana? Smoke it if ya got it!”

  15. Hungwolf 06/06/2011 at 7:35 AM #

If UNC-Cheat has no control over its players now, what happens when the program is slapped on the wrist and the coach keeps his job? Players already realize they can do anything they want and still get drafted by the NFL. My guess is the top talent will keep coming to UNC-Cheat cause players can live lavish lifestyles, get paid while in college, drive pimped out free rides, and do it with the blessing of the administration, fans, coach, and BOG’s. They’ll still be an undisciplined, me first – team-second 8-4 bunch of underachievers. But they didn’t go to UNC-Cheat to win, they went to not have to be poor and struggle while waiting to get drafted. That’s the Carolina–Way!

  16. packhammer 06/06/2011 at 9:51 AM #

Hey still four days for somebody else over there to do something really stupid, post it to Facebook or Twitter, and extend the NCAA investigation. It would not surprise me a bit. Now about that song….holy cow that is awful.

  17. packhammer 06/06/2011 at 9:57 AM #

May I respectfully suggest something a bit different.

  18. Bowlpack 06/06/2011 at 10:13 AM #

I would consider the source of that article. Apparently the local and now national (see http://eye-on-collegefootball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/24156338/29782650 ) media have taken this as the word. I’d be shocked if the penalties are anything less than severe given the nature of the offenses, who was involved and that possibility that it occurred again less than

  19. Bowlpack 06/06/2011 at 10:15 AM #

    got cut off:

…less than 1 year later. That said, I think that the Coples scenario may be the crux of how severe the penalties are. If he was found to have been in violation then they may still be in for an LOIC.

Who are these Wide Assumers so mentioned? Seems like an odd statement not to attribute the assumption to someone. Who the heck has enough information to make any assumptions about this situation? Did the NCAA leak this? Unc spin? WTF.

  21. Hungwolf 06/06/2011 at 11:10 AM #

Good point pack hammer. Baddour was quoted in the Charlotte Observer Sunday as saying he would not respond to “leaked” information. Wonder how he knew it was “leaked”? This very well could be a UNC-Cheat spin to the media to get everyone thinking this is no big deal and no harsh sanctions are coming.

Baddour also stated he would relay informaiton to the media once he had notice from the NCAA or any information. This coming from the man and school that is currently involved in a lawsuit for not releasing info to the media? Who really believes he is going to open and forthright with information or truth when the time comes?

  22. highstick 06/06/2011 at 11:13 AM #

Was listening to ESPN radio last night coming home and both of the talking heads agreed that it was totally impossible for a coach(discussing Tressel) to know what his players were doing all of the time and because of that it was ok and the coach and institution should not be blamed.

Wonder if that was an omen of setting the stage for the “Carolina Excuse”?

  23. StandUpAndHowl 06/06/2011 at 11:17 AM #

“If UNC avoids an LOIC I’d be curious for the NCAA to provide examples of how you get LOIC. I mean, that’s what we got nailed for w/ V – because our players were selling shoes and comp tickets.”

The difference is that the UNC administration is actively trying to protected themselves and their program. During the shoe investigation at State, our administration was not trying to protect the program. In fact, one could argue that they wanted Jimmy V to look as bad as possible.

  24. TruthBKnown Returns 06/06/2011 at 11:57 AM #

highstick, it’s actually a valid viewpoint that a coach cannot know about EVERYTHING a group of 85 adult men are doing (especially when they are lacking in character, but I digress…)

The problem is when one or more of those 85 grown men breaks a rule, the coach must punish them for the misdeed, as well as to send a message to the other 84 guys that breaking the rules will not be tolerated. When you have that discipline established, then you can stop worrying so much about watching their every move. They will start watching their own moves. And they may even police each other to some degree.

This (discipline for broken rules) is something the coach CAN control, even if he can’t be there babysitting them at all times. But Butch does not. mariQUANa Sturdivant never even sat out ONE GAME after his marijuana bust. Not even against an easy opponent in which he wasn’t really needed for UNX to get the win.

And another viewpoint is that, while the coach can’t know EVERYTHING his players are up too outside of football, he can know SOMETHING that SOME of them are doing. You’d have to be blind not to see SOME of what was going on with those guys. In Butch’s case, I think he was INTENTIONALLY blind to it.

Let’s hope the NCAA sees it that way, too. I really don’t see how any other conclusion could be reached.
