Stetson Rallies Past Pack, 8-7

Needless to say…that doesn’t do much for the Pack Nine’s chances to advance. The N&O’s writeup is here. A wild pitch and an error lead to the winning run in the bootom of the 9th. Blech.

Ugh, a typical Avent-coached team performance. Avent waits too long to pull Obgurn which is where everything started to slide downhill. Combine that with the typical poor base running, overzealous hitters, and dumb in-game decision making (not even attempting to bunt when we had base runners on to advance them to scoring position, for instance)…another L.

I still think it was the right choice to not play Mazzoni/Chamra, but the bottom line is that once again stupid in-game decisions made the execution of that decision a poor one. Oh well. Avent-Sendek-O’Cain strikes again.

Avent = the Seth Greeberg of baseball ?

Believe I said last week that State simply isn’t a very good baseball team. But this may be an advantage for them in that they probably won’t have to face their nemesis in Columbia.

Nothing will ever convince me to not open with the staff ace when you are the lower seed. Nothing. It’s close to suicidal.

The winner bracket is just too, darned, important.

I hope DY has a very frank conversation with Avent at the end of the season. I’m not sure we are mediocre anymore. Ugh.

It is one thing to lose a game, and another one to give it away. Way to go Avent, great coaching again!

Avent’s getting old isn’t it about time for him to “retire”? I’d be surprised if he gets pushed out this year. I doubt our coffers are full enough for Yow’s liking she won’t open up a search on the cheap and also, I think politically she needs a Post Gottfried year before she takes a shot at what I believe to be the 3rd most important sport at State.

^ 44 I totally disagree. Fifteen years of data is more than enough to know what you’ve got. And what we have is not what we need if our desire is to compete for championships. And that is what Yow intends to do. For that reason, I don’t think she sits around for another year. I think she acts now and brings in her guy. There’s no time like the present. Her motto is refuse to accept the status quo. Avent = status quo.

You may be right and Avent may stay for a 16th Painful season, BUT DY needs to take down the Billboards that say we wont settle for the status quo.
Belly-ot Avent is joke and 15 years of this crap is enough!

    “Bootom”. Well done…

So maybe if we can’t afford to let Avent go, then DY should have a sit down meeting with Avent, and let him know what the expectations are, and that he needs to hire some new assistants, who can help his blundering ways. Time for NC State Athletics to step it up, and stop being second fiddle to anyone. Aggressiveness!!!!!!!
