Is new NC State Head Men’s Basketball Coach Mark Gottfried already making waves nationally?
Cully Payne was the starting PG at Iowa before suffering a season ending injury. Yesterday morning, Payne was released from his scholarship and announced plans to transfer.
Payne is a Chicago guy, putting Illinois-Chicago, Loyola, and Northern Illinois in the mix of possible landing spots. However, the 21 year old said something that I took note of, “The guy I’d love to play for just got a job today”.
Do what? Now, I don’t watch ESPN 24/7, actually, not even 1/7 because I choose to be frugal and not spend money on cable or satellite, but back to the point, I am pretty sure we had the only NCAA college basketball Head Coach hire on Tuesday. He goes on to say, “I can’t really say too much about that, but that would definitely be [a] place I’d look atâ€.
So, who is this Cully Payne? How good is he? What type of character does he have? And can he contribute to the Wolfpack basketball program? I guess those are questions that new NCSU coach Gottfried may be asking this week.
