Mike Glennon officially takes reins as NC State quarterback

Signing day served to reveal some developments with NC State’s football roster that were not previously known.

In afternoon interviews, Head Coach Tom O’Brien announced today that the program will be moving forward with Mike Glennon as the starting quarterback and that Russell Wilson will be playing baseball with the Colorado Rockies.  O’Brien did hedge some by saying, ‘the door is always open’ for Wilson’s return…but, he does not expect the return.  The program will clearly make adjustments to the offense to accommodate Glennon’s individual strengths and weaknesses.

The Glennon era will launch with the absence of three of his projected to 7 or 8 offensive lineman as Sam Jones and Henry Lawson are no longer with the program and starter, Andrew Wallace, will likely miss through October with a knee injury.  In other roster news, Colby Jackson will miss the year with a medical hardship and Logan Winkles will likely miss through October like Wallace.

RW will be missed on the sidelines. What a great person, student and athlelete. Rare combo in todays time. I wish we could retire his jersey for those reasons alone.

Looking forward to a new chapter with Glennon. He has a phenomenal arm and accuracy. Wish he could have beefed up a little more though. I am happy he patiently waited his turn without transferring. I think he will do great but our offense will be slower.
